Hi

After two years with a Razer Imperator 2012 edition I got completely frustated with Razer brand and now I understand why its products are low rated. The build quality is awful.
I am over a year with double click and can't stand it anylonger.

My main competitive game style is FPS, so precision, control and speed is everything I want.
But the #1 thing I am looking for is BUILD QUALITY. I want a long lasting mice.
The price range would be 20 to U$60.

Some brands I'been looking are: Etekcity, Anker, Logitech, SteelSeries and Redragon.

Thank you.

I have always been a fan of logitech mice. I have used them for the last 20 years. Most of them have lasted me SEVERAL years of heavy heavy use. The only issue I have ever had, was with one specific logitech mouse. I purchased it and after a little over a year, the connection was cutting in and out. However I emailed logitech and they upgraded me to a G500 I believe from a *mx518* and I love it.

Anyway, Logitech all the way, I highly recommend them, there are several in your price range. Great customer service, great RMA/return policy and they have LONG lasting mice. I have an original 15 year old logitech mouse that still works great!

Hi

My main competitive game style is FPS

Zowie FK1

(other alternatives exist. but if you are looking to just get a perfect, 1:1 driverless mouse with native 400/800/1600/3200, flawless tracking, over 6m/s speed, WMO-like body, no acceleration of any kind, minimal LOD. then just grab one of these.)

People everywhere seems to like Logitech, I was really looking for the new G402.

It might be my final choice.

Logitech G400s, or other with the same sensor, and some soldering tools and practice. Some people have cable problems (I never have, except with MS Intellimice), but switches wear out, and can be replaced. I usually retire my mouse by that point to being a spare, as it takes 3-4 years to start doubling or missing, IME.

Most my mice have been Logitech, but honestly if you care about longevity I wouldn't buy a logitech. Every Logitech product I've owned has failed within a year (3 g9 mice, 2 G930 headsets, two z5500 speaker sets). It's somewhat countered by above average warranty and RMA service. Their products really aren't made to last though.

For those interested here is how the products failed:
1. *G9: Scrollwheel stopped registering ~50% of up or down scroll.
2. G9x: Right click began to stick in the down position until it was permanently down (perma click).
3. G9x: Left click button would often register 2 clicks when pressed once.
4. *Z5500: The console died so it couldn't be used at all. (~1 year)
5. Z5500: The console died so it couldn't be used at all #2. (~1 year)
6. *G930: Sound failed completely from one of the earpieces (forget which one). (<1 year)
7. G930: Left earpiece detached/fell off and is currently being held onto the headband with tape. (~1 year) All the fake leather has slowly worn off the earpieces but that's to be expected.

*replaced under warranty.

The 2nd G930 is the only thing I'm still using.

In the distant past I used a razor diamondback which worked perfectly until the mousefeet wore off completely and getting new mouse feet was pretty expensive so I just bought a new mouse. I used a Logitech wheelmouse around 14 years ago which did not fail. Prior to that I used ball/roller mice which didn't fail just needed to be cleaned.

I'll admit that if they re-release the G9 I'll buy one cus when it works its the best mouse I've used. I'm currently using a CM Storm Spawn which has had no issues for the past year and is a decent and cheap mouse but I prefer the shape of the G9.

That is some of the worst luck I have ever heard regarding Logitech.
In all my years of using Logitech(including friends) none of us have gone through what you have dealt with.

I have never had an issue with Logitech.

The g502 was on sale at Amazon and bestbuy yesterday for $59.99, and the g700s is even less than that now (what I currently have, but I have a g502 on the way)

I too had to give up using Razer years ago due to their horrific build quality.

The Logitech MX510 I'm using at work is at least 10 years old. Still works great

I've got multiple other logitech mice at home and haven't had any issues with them. I've swapped them throughout the years just to try different stuff. I'm currently using a G400 but I've still got a G500, G5, and MX518.

...And this topic is being sponsored by: Logitech

Jokes aside,

Their products are well rated across many retailers.

I am unsure of which one would be better, the "old" G400s or the new G402.

I would throw completely performance through the window for good build and materials.

I can't go to a store to "feel" them, I will import the mice overseas.

Which one should I go for?

I recently switched from the Deathadder to a SteelSeries Rival RGB, and I like it. I can't speak to longevity though, although in general I get a new mouse over year or two. I probably would still be using Deathadders, but I can't be bothered with making an account just to use their modern drivers, so f em.

If that's the case, a CH trackball is in a league of its own. Not that you'd want that...

No new PC peripherals are built like in the old days, from any vendor not charging two arms, two legs, your first-born son, and that son's future wife .

The, "old," mice, compared to the G400(s) are the MX500, MX510, MX518, and MX518 (V2). The G400, then G400s, came from those directly.

The G402 is a substantially different mouse from any of that series. It may or may not be a better one. Time will tell. But, it's not just a newer one of those.

TBH, if your have some place local like Best Buy that carries them, take advantage of them having a good return policy, if it doesn't work for you, and try whichever one.

For peripherals it's really nice to buy local since they will usually replace it in store and deal with the RMA themselves. Also for monitors if you can take a look for bad pixels in the store... Just make sure to cover up outside light so you can look for backlight bleed, got burned once b4

My Logitech G5 has been working flawlessly for (5+) years now.

I have had less than than stellar luck with my other Logitech mice. MX518 and M500 both have failed.
