HELP! Maxtor/CompUSSR trying to screw me

For a $70 rebate I got this e-mail...

We did not receive the 160GB 7200 RPM ULTRA SERIES HARD DRIVE.Original UPC for this product. Please send it to: ATTENTION RESUBMISSIONS, PO BOX 9013 Coppell, TX 75019.

The bad part is I sent them the UPC, i am positiive. Does anyone have a phone number or something I can call to get a hold of them, anyone had this experience?

2) I'm assuming that you at least had the foresight to make copies of everything (Receipt, rebate form, UPC) before you sent it out. If you didn't, you are criminally retarded and don't deserve your rebate anyway. You have no recourse.

i received the same message from Staples HDD rebate when i sent the COPY of UPC in the rebate form (which required the original UPC). and guess what, i didnt have the second copy of it to resubmit or do an explanation to them (the original copy was sent for a simultaneous rebate. then i took the UPC from another hdd box (same specs) and sent to them. waiting for result

that's your own fault. ConUSA always screws people with their rebates.
I had to take them to the small claims court for the acomdata rebate.
Never again from ConUSA.

If he is supposed to send it to Resubmissions in Texas this rebate is run by Parago (RebatesHQ) and not TCA Rebates (New Rochelle, NY) who runs a great deal of the CompUSA rebates and is normally responsible for screwing people out of their money.

The Parago 800# for Maxtor submissions is: 1-888-241-6208

Call them, explain the situation, and they most likely will validate your rebate right there on the phone. Parago is one of the most responsible rebate fulfillment houses around, and I have received every rebate I have ever submitted to Parago, usually in record time (2 weeks for one rebate!).

Hopefully this will save you a trip to the Rebate Tracking forum.

maxtor did that to me once too, but thru staples. i used to make copies of everything, but because i had trusted staples so much (100% with no problems upto then) so i don't bother doing the copy thing. meanwhile other's like fry's, i dont bother because i know the rebate wont come anyway. $2.50 rebate on power surge protector, when i sent it out i knew i wasted a stamp an envelope but it was worth a try. canned air, cd stompers, surge protectors and other small items that are FAR at Frys never come much like CompUSSR

I recieved my maxtor rebate from parago in record time of around 4 months, after telling them I was going to file a complaint with the ftc, I got the rebate check in about a week, Rebates suck! good thing I kept copies of everything, since Parago has a way of losing everything several times.

I've been told to take a few of my posts over to other forums but NOT ONCE have ever received any help once I had done so! It?s too bad that the wrong forum nazi?s don?t spend as much time over in other forums and threads actually helping people as they do bitching, whining and griping about posts such as yours. Truth be know, I?ve found that it's better to just post questions here or over in General Hardware because you are almost guaranteed to get a quick reply (as you can see). Sure, you'll have to put up with the NAZI's who think that it?s their sole purpose in life to rid all forums of un-complying posts but HEY, at least you get an answer

I bought a PC game called Euro Fighter 2000 with $10 rebate from COMPUSA about 5 years ago and they rejected my rebate request and said I bought it after the rebate period. I DID buy before the promotion expired but I had no copy of my receipt... That was the last thing I bought from COMPUSA!

Yes, something did. I found out this morning that my brother passed away this week.

In any case, anyone sticking up for this dude posting in the WRONG PLACE is only helping make ATHD a worse place to be.

I don't care if you've been here two days or two years. There's no excuse to READ THE FRICKING RULES.

Uh, how could a rebate every disappear? If it never comes, call up the number on the rebate form. If that fails, go to the store and demand your money. Oh well, it's people that don't care about rebates who keep them profitable for the companies. Me, I'll never fail to get a rebate. Just keep copies of everything and call if it never shows up.

I agree with you 100%. When jerks deliberately or even "unintentionally <cough> <cough>" clog the forums with stupid OFF-TOPIC self-serving questions, they DESERVE to be hammered with flames.
