1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Normal everyday PC using for an adult (this PC is not for me). Work such as documents, internet browsing, cd burning (MP3 cds), and light gaming (when I say light, I mean mostly play sports games...and want a PC capable of playing current games at a good rate).

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

Want to spend no more than $700 shipped

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

All parts will be purchased online. Live in US.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

Want to stick to an Intel processor, but everything else is fair game.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Intend to use current monitor only.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

I haven't been keeping up to date on the best bang for your buck items, so I am very out of the loop and need everyones inputs on what to build.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

No overclocking.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Want to build this within the next 2 weeks.

Let me know what you guys can come up with using my budget. Thanks to everyone for the help!!

I just build a computer using a core 2 e7200. I know you said no overclocking, however on the stock cooler I got this thing up to 3.4ghz and it runs daily tasks as fast as anything on the market.

If you're willing to buy some used parts you would be able to do a system around this CPU easily within your goal.

You want 500W for a 4850. Of course, it's overkill for light gaming anyway, particularly given the huge price increase over the 4830.

His 400W is fine for a 4850.
