Help me buy a new pc...

I got the go ahead from my parents to buy/build a new pc. Basicly they will buy and I will pay them back. I am not comfortable building my own from scratch, but I am ok with some upgrades. My thoughts are to buy a good barebones or bare essential gaming rig and installing the rest of the parts myself to save on money. Are there any good custom builders out there that you all can recommend? I want to spend at most 1500.00, but would like to keep it under that. I already have a monitor, printer, and a second harddrive(tomorrow thanks to Staples). So if possible I would like to buy assembled the case, psu, cpu, mobo, nic, small hd, OS, and basic memory(unless they are reasonable in price). Any suggestions on where to go since newegg doesn't build?

It would be mostly for gaming. Please any help would be appreciated. The P3 500 just isn't cutting it anymore.

Oxford Computer, NextGen, and Multiwave all have good selection of parts that they will assemble for you.

i can build it for you

i'm a microsoft certified system builder

i have my own company, but i don't actively advertise, since i'm going off to grad school in august, but i can build it and tweak it for speed/stability for ya

here's what i could do:

P4 1.8A (512k cache)
512 MB Samsung PC2700 DDR memory
40 GB Seagate 7200 RPM hard drive (whisper quiet)
Asus 32x CD-RW drive
Foxconn midtower with 325 watt p/s, 80 mm front fan, 92 mm exhaust
Abit GeForce4 Ti4400 128 MB RAM Retail
CL Audigy Sound Card OEM
Intel 10/100 NIC
Windows XP Home
Mitsumi Floppy
Microstar i845E motherboard with USB 2.0
$1100 plus shipping

i would install everything, including the latest drivers, include all the drivers and testing programs on a CD (ie 3DMark 2001SE, Sandra, etc) and tweak everything for optimal performance

I ordered a pc from Oxford PC last tuesday. Pretty good selection and price, and so far the customer service has been great. It'll be a couple of weeks or so before I see how well they built it, but things are looking good.
