More like evidence that someone is using it, but it cannot be evidence for who is using it.

Well, tonight I grew tired of waiting and just cut off the valve since the week just finished. It was a pain in the freaking arse as well, since the handle sticks out of the ceiling, it had been painted over, and was rusty to boot. Finally got it to shut off after scraping my hand on the 1970's stucco ceiling (lol) with heavy duty pliers.

I do have 2 nights to review (15th and 14th) but I doubt he messed with it either night since it was the weekend. Fck it, I'll know when the next water bill comes. Still going to call them this week just in case and have someone come out.

All this and no one suggested taping a couple of razor blades to the spigot knob. Just look for the bandages the next day. I doubt the person is shining a flash light around if they were using it.

Back in the day, we did this with gas caps when we found someone stealing gas. It was funny to see who had hamburger fingers the next day.

These days the bastard would probably sue for cutting his hand while he was trying to steal your gas. and win with the f'd up legal system.

in the act of stealing water from my outside hose. Water bill claims that from December through March I used 14,000 gals (still way off IMO) and now from March - July 1st it's saying I used 23K. How is this even possible? I checked all the toilets, none are running. I didn't turn on the A/C until mid May, so I doubt it's that.

The only other explanation is my deadbeat neighbor who doesn't have a job and is up til 3 fcking a.m. watering his lawn, and gets up at 3pm and has his g/f support him by paying his rent (but he pays the utilities and is always broke). Note that his walkway is literally 5-6 feet from my faucet/hose.

I could just shut off the water to that valve but I want to catch him in the act and make him pay half my water bills. Are there any good all weather but concealable security cameras with night vision? Or I was thinking I could add a motion sensor by the faucet handle that could page me via WiFi? Any ideas are good here.
You A/C uses water?

If by hot you mean ugly alcoholic cigarette smoking trollface, then sure.

LOLZ! I appreciate this as it reminds me of the women in the back seat of my car during my epic drinking days. That sounds like a lot of water. What in the hell could he be doing with all that?

The bill came a few weeks ago. From 6/20-9/20 my usage was... 11,000 gallons. The prior bill was 23,000. The previous bill from Dec-March was 14,000, which I still thought was high. I didn't really change anything since shutting off the valve, and the water company came out and checked the meter (in a manhole at the front of the house). They confirmed there were no leaks.

So how does my bill go down to < HALF the previous bill? Only one explanation in my mind. BTW my roommate also asked the neighbor why the nozzle was off our hose. The neighbor said he took it off, so that pretty much confirmed it. I don't really talk/hang out much with those idiots anymore, I'm too busy anyway.

Updated OP too.

95%? That 5% = reasonable doubt man. You're never gonna get that ATOT conviction you want with circumstantial evidence man. If the nozzle fell off it, you must acquit.

Well, if he admitted to touching the nozzle then he was using the hose without my permission. He has all types of freaking attachments for his so it's not like he'd just be borrowing the cheap nozzle.

It's possible he was even stealing from 6/20-7/3 (before I started this thread) that is jacking up the 11,000. But it sounds about normal since my neighbor (lives alone) is at around 7 with watering her lone tree. My roommate doesn't shower all that much (on disability) so 10K~ is probably about right. I knew 23K was just ridiculous, and something was up.

All in all, he has to know that I know. We don't really talk anymore and that's fine with me, I'm sure he's embarrassed. It's not worth the $50 to confront him on something I can't 100% prove, and the problem fixed itself anyway. He got spooked when I took the screen out of the window directly facing his house, and I covered all the windows (i.e. over the window shades so zero light escaped, and he wouldn't know where in the house I was) for the nighttime recon.

I'm glad you think of me as alpha. I don't qualify since I don't drive an M3 nor will I ever have the desire to.

For some reason I was thinking this was a big bill or something... $50? Not worth the time to fuck with the guy. Just shut it off using a different method, and the shit stops. He'll eventually stop trying to use it.

I suppose it still is money, but $50 just ain't worth the trouble of security cameras and gizmos to try and catch the guy. Buy some faucet locks and be done with it:
