Guys, i'm from Brazil, things here are very expensive, and I'm going to the USA on friday, so I'm thinking about buying a good SSD there. Could you help me choose a good $150~$200 dollars SSD for my desktop?

And I also have a HP Pavilion 7014NR that doesn't have a SSD, would it be a good idea to buy one for it too? And what about those mSata "cache" SSDs, that are managed by the OS itself, are they any good?

Samsung 840 pro will perfectly suit your budget, DarthRevan. I have SSD Transcend SSD720 128GB 2.5". It cost me about $125.

Why not split the budget and go for 2x Samsung 840 Evo? I have one and they are excellent boot drives and I don't have to use sleep quite so much now.

I've been looking for a new SSD too.
The Sandisk Extreme II would (will?) be my pick.
In recent Anandtech SSD reviews, it switches back and forth with the 840 Pro for top spot, but its performance consistency is better.
I currently have a Vertex 4. It's great when there isn't much on it but if I fill it past 80% it tanks. This is why I would choose performance consistency over outright top performance.

Yeah, this new Evo is making me crazy, I don't know if I should spend extra for the Pro, as the Evo seems very good...

Yeah, light to moderate usage shouldn't be a noticeable difference. Not even for games really. As long as you don't do "write intensive" stuff (10-20GB+) every single day, then it's all good on longevity.

I picked up the Samsung Evo 250GB for my new build for OS/game installs. My first SSD system. Love it. On a normal boot, it doesn't fully load the Windows 7 logo before the login screen appears. Reboot takes about 8 seconds, but that includes UEFI too. Shweet.
