Help me choose between these photos

I'm trying to finish up the sports section for a yearbook and I need some help picking the best photos. My problem is that I usually look for the best photos technically, but I should really pick the ones that the kids shown would like best.

Since there are a lot of guys on here, I figured you might be able to help me pick what the ballplayer might like best out of these. Some have good action, but you can't see their face as well, and some vise versa. So if it were you, which of these would you like best? (Keep in mind that the actual photo will be relatively small.)

Edit: Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. It made it a lot easier to decide between 3 of the 4.

Can you set up a poll? IT would make it easier for you and us

Set 3 Player #33 Which one would you pick?

And lastly, do you like this photo? I think he'd like the capture, but you can't see his face very well.

Last one

No, sorry.

Thanks for the answers so far. I really appreciate the help.

That's okay if you don't like the last one, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I know the kids like sports photos that show off their athleticism, but sometimes I'm not sure if the photo accomplishes that.

Hey Amol, how do you like working on the yearbook and how do you decide what photos to use? This is a very small school and so they try to put at least one action photo of each member of the teams in the book. It can be hard to find a good one of everyone though.

Thanks again for the replies so far. I was hoping to finish this up tonight, but it seems from the results that people are pretty evenly divided on these, so I'll leave it until tomorrow. It would be easier if I could just ask the kids, but I don't see all of them that often.

To answer some of the questions or comments I've missed.

George P Burdell, thanks for suggesting a poll. It makes it a lot easier for me too.

SonnyDaze, yeah, my main problem with the photo is that you can't see his face clearly. As for not wearing any socks, it's a thing at the school about each member of a sports team dressing just a little bit differently than each other. Like, one guy will wear long socks, another short ones, another none, another a different color than the others, etc. I don't know why they started doing it, but it sure helps me identify them in the pictures especially during football season because a lot of the time you can't see their numbers but I can look at what they're wearing and go back through the pictures and figure out who is who.

Juno, yeah, I thought he might like that it shows some athleticism, but it's not a great picture.

clickynext, lol, well I guess the answer would be thank you, because I take all the sports photos right now. They just started a photography class though and I'm hoping that the kids will be able to take these types of photos next year. The big problem right now is that there are 19 kids in the class and only one camera, mine, but they are interested in learning to be good photographers and the school is going to buy one so hopefully they'll have their own photos to pick from next year.

OVerLoRDI, thank you, and yes it is high school basketball.

n7, thanks for the vote and the compliment.

lizardth, lol, actually I believe five or six or them did. One of the starters had some sort of injury where they had to shave a big part of his leg so he shaved the rest of it and the other one too so it wouldn't be so odd looking. The rest of the starters then shaved theirs too in sort of a team bonding kind of thing so that he wouldn't feel so bad.

We choose the best photo we take .

Well, I only take the pictures, I don't make the spreads. The kids who make those choose the pictures. I give them as many options as possible .

And we don't get a picture of everyone since that would be way too difficult.

Btw, is this a high school yearbook? Or college/jc?

Captante, thanks for voting, and yeah it looks like the last photo is out.

Amol, sounds like we have just the opposite problem with photos. We almost always end up with way too many to choose from. Of course, this is a small school so there aren't really that many people to get photos of, and I keep a running list to make sure I try to get at least one of each of them. If you're at a large school I can understand not even trying to get photos of each individual. It's almost expected here though.

Oh, and it's a high school.
