Sony E200 would be my pick. Definitely not the MAG. I haven't heard much about the LG 795FT but I guess they are suppose to be good. The 700IFT is nice just the E200 is better.

I would get the Samsung 700ift. Love the image quality on the various Samsungs I've had. I have the 19" version of it. Sony's image quality is good as well but, I don't think it is good enough to justify the premium. Samsung's service is awesome as well. Of all the Samsung's I've had only one has needed any work and they covered shipping both ways and sent first. I would stay away from Magview since I've heard lots of people saying they are using the Proview tubes. If that is true they will just suck. Lots of failures and cruddy image. Don't know much on the LG though. Don't see them around too much around where I work.

If I were you I would look at the Samsung 700NF. I wouldn't look at Sony if you're strapped for cash.

My experience with NEC has been great. Had trouble with a refurbished 15" back in 1994, and they ended up sending me a, freshly made 17" as a replacement. Now, that's support above and beyond (and they paid all international shipping too!). That was about a $500 price difference. We were always on nice, friendly terms, with probably helped. That monitor is going strong today. The only drawback with NEC monitors is that the suffer a bit from misconvergence.

I have a 700IFT, and I think it is a great monitor, especially for the price. I think I saw a post about it in "Hot Deals" a couple of days ago, you might wanna check that out.

I should add some. I agree with the rest; if you want to save money and get a monitor just as good check out the Samsung 700NF (I prefer it over the 700IFT because its a DiamondTron) or if you want a shadow mask, then the 700IFT. I totally agree with Coca-cola bear. Samsung service is great too.

Sony E... is the entry-level model, for such price, you can get other brand's mid-level or even pro-level model. You can definitely take out Sony for consideration. Every MAG I've seen is not good. I'd pick either LG or Samsung.

This summer I spent 2 hours in a store comparing the Sony E200 and the LG 795FT Plus!. I ended up buying the LG, and I haven't regretted it. It's an absolutely great monitor, the colors are bright and picture clarity is great.....and best of all, you don't have to look at those two annoying "apperture-grille-something" lines (they drove me nuts, when looking at the Sony).

Anyway, the LG is a great monitor, and I give it my warmest recomendations.
