I'm helping a friend on mine connecting VCR (for the use of antenna) to Philips HDTV. He got a receiver already and since everything has been installed in place so I think I would use the receiver to connect VCR and the old DVD to HDTV.
Here the story, before he connected DVD directly to HDTV via S-video and audio only to receiver with no problem. I then connected HDTV and Receiver via S-video cable (from receiver output, of course), and connected both DVD and VCR to input. I got no signal from connecting this way. What did I do wrong? I don't think HDTVs cannot handle analog signal, do they? Do I need a converter box or some kind's?
The main issue is I cannot move or install any new cable with old setup (it's kind of fit in place and very hard to do wiring again) so only option available is via S-video. (I asked the guys at bestbuy and he said to use only component cable in order to be able to watch programs from antenna). thanks in advance guys
