Hey thanks for the replys guys!! RussianSensation, that link was incredibly helpfull. I think I have decided to go for it for now. Later on next year i may upgrade something else, or get an xbxo360. I think this is a good choice, I will fill yas in upon install!

Holy Crap. I'd didn't see the rebate and I've been on that site so often I'm surprised they didn't block my IP. =)

They always had the price at 599$ and there was no discount. I thought it was a shame too because that card is sweet. (much better than the x800xt/xl) Now I see the updated price and I think that's my new choice. You just gotta love Anandtech's forums!

I'm also happier to buy from Futureshop because it's local and they guarantee the price for 30 days. Thanks tons!

That's the X850Pro which isn't as good as the X850XT which is HERE

Now that's a deal. The X800XL AIW is 350$ which is good but for 50$ less and no AIW you can get a much better card.

Why are people recommending the 7800GT when we are talking about AGP cards? I know the X850XT comes in both PCi-E & AGP but for people upgrading from a Radeon 8500 / 9600 / 9800 / Pro going for a PCi-E card is no solution unless you're planning on getting a whole new system.

If you have an AMD 2800+/Intel 3.0 or higher and 1 gig of ram, it's a hard sell to get a new X2 4400 or P4EE 4.0+ plus the cost of a Motherboard and new ram just to buy a PCi-E card like the 7800GT which is still another $400+ CAD.

Not true about the XT, the X800XT is (clocked at) 500/1000. The X850XT is 520/1140 (I think), making it about the same as an X800 XT PE, which I run. And let me throw in my .02 on the topic of performance - the 800/850 XT's are 95% of a 7800 GT. The real advantage with the GT lies in the few extra features, not performance. OK I'll shut up before I go way OT.

Ok, I was maybe a little unclear. The X850 XT is way better than the X800XL (400/490) and just plain better than the X800XT. The X800 XT PE is clocked higher than the X850 XT (520/1120) vs (520/1080) respectively and is naturally faster however all those cards are pretty good considering the 7800GT isn't that much faster (5% slower, as you said) and you would need a PCi-E M/B, which you wouldn't if you already had an AGP card. =)

I should update. I bought the card, installed it, not half bad. Not quite the jump I had been expecting from my overclocked to hell 9800 pro. Runs BF2 all settings high descently on 1280x1024. I am happy considering i sold my 9800 pro for 125 bucks. So in theory I payed very little for the card. Hope a few other Canadians jumped on that deal, I heard it was a mistake and was supposed to be the x850 pro. Woot to the XT!

The deal for the X850 XT was brief and yet it happened twice. I ended up getting the X800 XT AIW for 390$ where if I waited I could have gotten the X850 XT non-AIW for 330$. Now you can get the X850 XT for 599$ which is a ripoff and it's very hard to get an X800 XT AIW for any decent price. Happy I didn't hold out for the X850 XT as I would have most likely been screwed. I'm also running my card at 540/550 using stock cooling and my temps are 40 idle and 65 on load which isn't bad for 500/50 stock. I was thinking about getting a better cooler but I'm not convinced that the Zalman or the other kind (forgot the name) of coolers would be much better. The cooling is pretty decent as is.
