I've had my 06' Z for two weeks now and its been running perfectly. Today I go to start it and it starts fine then dies. I try a few more times with the same result. I give it a little gas on the fourth try and it stays running. I shut down the car and start it again and it stays running.

I think to myself that its a little strange but I start driving to work anyways. About a 3/4 mile from my house I start jerking as if I'm losing power then regaining it. I'm not sure how I can explain it.

The only possiblilty that I can think of is that last night we got quite a bit of rain and I park my car next to a curb where the water can run high. Perhaps some water got into the engine?

If thats the case, do I just wait it out by driving it around for a while? Should I take it into a dealer? I've never had a flooded engine before. Any help will be appreciated.

You don't flood an engine with water....if you did you'd hydrolock it. Do you have a check engine light coming on? If so go to an autozone or whatever is closest and have them read the code for you to help figure out whats going on a little better. If you aren't getting a code you might have a faulty air flow sensor or many other things. There simply isn;t enough information in your post to really know whats going on. Did you buy gas at a station that seems like it might be kinda shady? Might have bad gas, "watered down" gas or something of those lines as well. If you can afford it, the dealership is the safest bet.

Did you fill up recently and top off the tank?

If you top off the tank you run the risk of ran fuel spilling into the evap system, which can result in hard starting and other "flooded" like symptoms.

I only fill up with Shell/Chevron and always use 93. My tank is also half full, I filled up a week ago.

The thing that bothers me is that I haven't had any issues before this. The only thing that has changed was the massive amounts of rain last night.

I have no engine lights whatsoever, everything looks okay when you start it up.

Flooded is a term used for carberated engines, your engine is fuel injected and thus it is impossible for it to be flooded in the traditional sense of the word. Sounds like you might have a bad sensor. I'd take it to the dealer and have them run the codes. Is the check engine light on?

take it to the dealer.. if it dont drive call the dealer and have them towed. its on 06 and shouldn't happen and should be warrantied unless you bought salvaged or high miled cars. 3 years/36k warranty should still be in effect.

you could still fuel the engine on FI cars. I had a dizzy go back on a 94 camry and so you crank and it just kept giving air and fuel no spark. I pulled the plugs and they were beyond fouled with fuel.

But this shouldn't be the case... AFAIK Z's are Drive-by-wire... therefore you cant really give it a little gas when starting it up... I could be wrong...

parking by a large water puddle doesn't mean much if you dont have a cold air intake.. if you hydrolocked your car then you wouldn't be able to get it running. You could wait and let it out... But bring it to the dealership or get them to tow it..

Check your air filter and MAF. As well as the intake connections. A loose intake tube or dirty air filter could cause this...

<--'87 Caprice owner. I've had to deal with many a carb problem in the past. Those things can be a pain if you aren't sure how to properly adjust them. I do miss the previous fuel-injected cars I drove sometimes.

They should be able to let you know what the sensors are telling you, but honestly it sounds like you may have plug/spark issues.
