Your standard is 42 push-ups in 2 minutes. To max you gotta crank out 71 in the same amount of time.

I saw guys come in and barely do 13 and leave doing 50+ after only 8 weeks. That was push-up and sit-up improvement every other day of the week for 8 weeks. I also saw guys lose 80 pounds in basic training. No advocating joining the Army, just some things to think about when you lose hope that it can't be done or that it's too hard. Oh, BTW, they were eating 3 square meals a day too.

Pushups are the one of the best exercises you can do outside of a gym with no equipment. All you need is a floor and yourself. They are also rather difficult to do if you are just starting. So if you want to do more, just practice. Do as many as you can every day for the next month. Set a goal of doing 10 pushups. Do 10, stopping as many times as you need to. 10 sets of 1 is fine, but 5 sets of 2 is better, and so on. Work up to 1 set of 10.

Second, start doing cardio. You'll begin to lose some weight. Less weight = easier to do a pushup.

Finally, change your diet. Eat healthier (assume you don?t eat healthy of course). This will keep the weight off so you can do more pushup.

Eating healthy is easier said than done!!! I try my hardest to curve eating pizza for lunch and Wendys for dinner. But that is what is available to me!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so lazy that I don't even try to prepare me home lunch like tuna sandwich, with leatuce, onions, healthy stuff. ERRRRRRR

I just did a bunch of pushups and I can totally feel them in my upper arms. I want to do them till I can't move my arms anymore!!!!!!!!!!! Gonna try, just for you ATOT!

I know eating hard is impossible at times. Last summer I worked on a construction site, and guys would buy everybody lunch EVERY day. I politely declined and ate my turkey sandwich. This summer i work as QUIZNOS. I can have all the free food I can eat. Talk about temptation. And I didn?t even mention the cookies yet. Run them through the oven and mmmmm.

But you just have to find motivation for yourself. The first time I run a mile straight was an incredible high. It was addicting. I wanted to feel like that EVERY day, so I started doing it more and more. I look back at how I was and feel ashamed I was living like that. But onwards and upwards my friend. I'm off to the gym soon to get my run on.

I have seriously contemplated joining just to get myself into shape. Or even just joining the reserves to go through basic training.

What happens when a team mate cannot get through a five mile run? Do they punish him?

As mentioned earlier, start with girl pushups (with your knees on the ground instead of on your toes), this way you'll at least get some reps in, b/c doing 2-3 isn't going to help you. And when you first start (and even later) if you are really sore, skip a day otherwise you are wasting your time and not giving your musles time to heal (heck skip 2 days if you need to). And as far as eating, if you are too lazy to make something good, at least order healtier stuff....for example don't order the classic triple with cheese and a side of fries, instead order a grilled chicken sandwhich with no (or lite) mayo and a side salad or something like that, use common sense and moderation.

I totally agree with your suggestions and I appreciate them a lot. I'ts been a goal of mine to get into shape for a long time now. And I hope to make it happen soon.

I used to be able to do 10 sets of 20... I probably can't do 1/4 of that now... I'm out of shape.

I can do 60 in a row by the way...never timed how many I can do in 2 minutes though.....yay for me, I rock

Can you explain to me what exactly is hinda squats? Do I need weights to perform them? If not, HOW DO I DO THEM?

Many bodybuilders don't believe that a workout is complete until they work out their legs.

hmmm, you move up and down...I can stand over you and kick you in the gut to make you go down...then kick you while you are down to make you get up. Works for me...

An easy way for you to begin your journey to a fit body could be to do as many push-ups as you can do and sit-ups every night. Try doing as many pushups as you can and then do that many for 2 or 3 nights, then do a few extra the next 2 or 3 days. As for situps just do as many as you can each night until you get up to about 100 a night. Also try walking/jogging/running.

its not so much how fit you are...just that your muscles arent TRAINED for it yet.. keep doing as much as you can and soon you can do lots more

if you want something to motivate you as you do pushups, throw a tape of girls gone wild or somthing of the likes and do the pushups as you watch. And just keep thinking to yourself "I do more pushups I can get these women!!!"

of course this isn't true but half of excersiing is mental anyway.
