Your standard is 42 push-ups in 2 minutes. To max you gotta crank out 71 in the same amount of time.
I saw guys come in and barely do 13 and leave doing 50+ after only 8 weeks. That was push-up and sit-up improvement every other day of the week for 8 weeks. I also saw guys lose 80 pounds in basic training. No advocating joining the Army, just some things to think about when you lose hope that it can't be done or that it's too hard. Oh, BTW, they were eating 3 square meals a day too.
