Hey guys, as of today I'm no longer employed. I was doing WDTS for Verizon Wireless and was let go along with about 4 other people of my team. I am a punctual person and will work to the fullesetof my potential. My pay was right around 16.00/hr. I have experience within the Helpdesk role, Tech Support, PC Technician, SOHO networks (wlan and lan). Currently studying for my CCNA. Even if its not perm I'll take it. I will be transfering to either Geaorgia Tech or GSU within 1-1 1/2 years. I'm currently in the Houston area. If anyone has a entry level NOC/ network technician position available I would be grateful. Please keep your eyes open for me. I have about 5 interviews scheduled for next week so wish me luck. I need a gig asap to finish paying for tuition.

I know this is so general/dumb but have you looked on Monster / career builder?

What about your local paper, that's usually the best for part time jobs.

Yea I have hit up all the job boards as of today fellas. Thats where the interviews come from. But I would like to start working asap. I wont do well in school if I have too much free time, not to mention I still have tuition to pay for.

What job boards? You just mean monster and careerbuilder? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for something better myself. Thanks.

Did you hit up the networking thread stickied at the top of Off Topic?

Found out today in my comm class that this is now far from true. I was pretty surprised.

I still get offered contract-work from Monster all the time even though I seldom use it ... the key is to sign up for the $8.99 a month listing & you should get lots of calls.

So far I've whored out on dice, monster, careerbuild, hotjobs, and some recruitment firms. Does the 8.99 realy help that much?

Paying for a "premium" spot does not help

Thanks fellas, may have an interview with an oil and gas company thats paying considerably more. I'm still scheduling as many as possible. Any insight on what these guys might expect from a helpdesk role would be great.

Why not apply for another position in the company? There are tons of NOC and NRB Jobs here in NJ for VZW, Im assuming its similar down there in TX... Theres also the ITSC down there in houston, they always have new people coming and going from there.

..Houston has a public mass transportation system. see if they are hiring. Modern mass transportation systems use AC drive with cpu based propulsion/brake systems and fiber optic controlled IGBT's  in the prop inverter. Tons of pm/unscheduled type maintaince.

What kind of gigs do you pick up?

If my PGI ever drops below 50 I might need to do just that!

Scored a 79 today... We're good.
