too much stress, don't like being on call 24/7, i'd rather leave my job at 5 pm and know i was done for the day instead of waiting for the phone to ring to come back in to work.

After my previous job and looking at how the business side is run in my current one, I've come to the conclusion that employers are wanting more and more (and more) and giving less and less. Even if you go into business for yourself, you'll be kicking your own ass to work more for less.

Now excuse me while I go back to Idaho for another two straight weeks of 10 to 12 (or more) hour days (including weekends). I don't mind it so much now as it's a big project and it's wrapping up....keep it up for extended periods without giving me enough home time and I'll be looking again too.

I know the feeling. 5+ years averaging 50+% of the year traveling wears on a fella. The money is decent, but the traveling takes its toll. I have seen most of this great country, as well as both adjacent neighbors, and China for extended periods of time. Hooray for engineering!

Just remember to keep it in perspective. Yes the stress sucks but you're making a really good living.
