Help me find a new office chair under $500.

It has to be a leather (not fabric), swivel, high-back, padded armrests, and very comfortable seat. Assembly-required is ok.

I usually get a chair from Staples every few years, but I'm looking for possible alternatives this time around. Any ideas? And I don't like aeron. Thanks.

I suggest Staples. I bought a nice one there a few years ago (about 3 or so) ... Good comfort and reasonable cost. They have them on display so you can test them and see which is best for you.

go ebay and find used/no-warranty steelcase or herman millers.

Steelcase leather executive chairs are about $2000 according to their website. And they don't even look worth the money.

Get your ass to office depot. I went there last month and they had over 50 to choose from. Took about 20 minutes on sitting and thinking to decide. sheese

i looked at getting a steelcase similar to what we have in the conference rooms at work, but after writing down the model name and looking it up, i gave up after seeing the (upwards of $1k).

It seems like you either get to spend <$200 on a cheap office max chair or >$1000 on a really nice one. Where's the middle ground?!

I would go with a good mesh chair. Leather seems to deflate too much.

I have this chair from stables. It was marked down by more than 100 dollars when I bought it. It's very comfy and has been trouble free for the 5 months or so I've owned it.

With your requirements, it'll be hard to find something from the big office chair manufacturers. We have Steelcase chairs in the office and they're amazing...but when I originally looked it up, they were just short of $2K. Have you at least tried sitting in an Aeron, Mirra, or the new Embody? (Herman Miller)

I am not 100&#37; certain, but the chair linked to by LordMorpheus seems to be the same as the one I have at home (or very close to it, as mine is about 3-4 yrs old)

Check out Costco. They have some real nice ones every now and then. I got my wifes from there and its still working well now and its been about 3 years.

Yeah, see the happy ending is that after spending 8-12 hours a day in it for ten years you DON'T need major back surgery.
