Help me find the pron! :)

well sorta. my little cousins pc is under suspicion. kids not stupid enough to leave recent docs history intact or files on the hd. so does the registry keep track of more files that have been accessed in the past?

not that i know of, if they were just on websites. if they are local, then they might be in the recent documents folder or something. you could just use a keystroke capture program

run ad ware on it. It will list tons of pr0n spyware ads. Then you will know

You could also check the IE cache file. However, if he is smart enough to clear the history and documents, then he is probably also smart enough to clear the cache. Still, it wouldn't hurt to look.

If you don't find anything, can you restrict his access to the comp? I don't know if you can restrict access enough to prevent him from clearing the history, cache, documents, etc using NT, 2000, or XP. There is always a keystroke logger. However, it would have to run in the background.

Yah, Ad-Aware will show tons of porn spyware if they have been to any site. Generally doubleclick is used for pron spyware.

Also, as noted check cookies.

Play a board game with the kid or take him/her to the park. Tell the kid's parents the same thing. It sounds like more effort is being spent trying to find negatives on the little one than on positive ones.

Whoa there... I believe doubleclick is actually very common and I don't think it's just on pr0n sites. So don't yell at the kid if you find that particular one.

I doubt your comp will keep an index of all cds you've accessed.


I suggest doing a search on any images, like *.jpg or *.gif

also, try finding all files above 10MB, as those might be videos. if he was really smart, he wouldn't use the default extensions.

yeah its easy to hide stuff if you're smart and they're stupid. just take all your pr0n, zip it into one file, rename it syslog.dat and put it in winnt/system32/log or something like that. also copy some other random crap from winnt/system32 into winnt/system32/log to make it look like it's an important directory.

just one idea of the infinite possibilities. i agree with the 'leave the kid alone'. i was looking at porn in 5th grade. had no idea what to do with it, didnt even whack it....i'm not some freak because of it. get on with life. kids are mischevious, as long as they arent doing anything damaging to themselves or others, then let them be.

if he manually did a file->open in media player it will show up in an access list, which is clearable in the registry. (search reg for the file name in access list)


edit - by the way.. if he is a puberty/post-puberty young male with unrestricted private internet access then I assure you, he IS going to porn sites

Anyway, Windows 2000 will store recently accessed files and sites in the registry too. As I don't wanna directly help you bust him: Good luck finding it
