Alcohol and firearms. Thats what happened.
Every year, we go outside after the ball drops, shake wallets at the sky (Pretty funny, you gotta be there to understand), and then blast off some ammo at out range to make some noise. It was cold, and a spring broke on one of my guns, cutting my finger with each cycle from the recoil, and jamming in almost an inch under the skin on the last shot. My hands were REALLY cold, so I didn't feel any pain til I got inside.
Imagine a cut about 3/8" wide, 1/8" deep, and a place where a piece of wire got jammed in about 1 inch right under the skin. I didn't feel a thing, and actually the first thing that gave it away was things sticking to my hand. I left a trail from outside into the house that I had to clean up, plus a little splatter on my coat and on my face and left arm. Everyone was freakin out, making me go to the hospital, and I was more worried about staining the carpet. Then about that time the pain kicked in. I cleaned it up later.
