Notice that I never said anything negative about PHP. Just that I favour ASP.

I try to keep a neutral stance, though.

It is sometimes fun to debate, but not tonight (and not for a while for me). My current workplace is so extremely anti-Microsoft and I just got tired of their arrogant opinions. Sometimes they even piss me off because they've rarely even dealt with Web programming before. I wonder how much about ASP/COM they really know before they make such absurd comments against it.

i have been worknig in asp for over an year and I have also worked in JSP which really sucked. Although I have never worked in php but I am sure it has great potential. I saw some benchmarks on these three technologies on some website and I was surprised to know that php runs faster than asp and jsp. JSP was the slowest. And I have also heard that php gives u more power than the other two technologies. I would surely not miss a chance to learn php whenever i get one.

Don't forget about ASP.NET. It will be a killer, IMO. Biased or not.

honestly i dont expect much from .NET package. C# is not a very well designed language. It is considered to be microsoft version of java. Also asp.net works similar to jsp so I don't think it would be very fast. I am not personally against microsoft or asp.net but i feel that it won't be a big success, at least for the time being. Maybe after a couple of upgrades it would be worthy to try. Just my personal opinion.

Yes, it is &quot;considered,&quot; but that doesn't mean it is completely equivalent to Java.

Not fast? Runs faster than COM (theoretically) in most situations. Fast enough for ya?

Too bad I break the EULA if I benchmark ASP.NET.

And with ASP.NET, it doesn't matter which language you use. Once you compile, it simply becomes a MSIL assembly code.
