I have the cash to afford the 2405fpw but for some reason I think its going to be too big and might hurt my eyes? What do you guys think?

If you can afford it, go for the 24"
Awesome monitor. The resolution rocks!

PS: I hope your getting the $744 or less deal!

I went with the 2405. I can just set it back ferther on the desk since it doesn't have a tube. Hopefully it will be here by friday
I am so anticipating this

Edit: I checked, and the "e" key is nowhere near the "u" on my keyboard, which suggests that you guys have collectively ruined my spelling capabilities. Thanks a bunch. :|

Addendum: This was moved from OT to Wherever the hell I just found it in the middle of my edit, so none of you illiterate bastards will even see it anyway.

Remember, LCDs look best @ their native resolution. I think the 24" is 1920x1200 or something.. Can your video card handle that?

The 20" is 1680x1050 and therefore easier to provide the native res to in games.

Has anyone seen benchmarks run at 1920x1200 with and without eye candy turned on in D3/HL2, I'm looking to build a new box after the start of the year but I want to build another stable platform for the next 5 years, just like my current rig has served me.

I'd probably go for the 20 incher. 24" seems a tab bit too large for healthy long term computing.

I went for the 2405. I like it but it was a shocking experience in the beginning.
You have to "travel" more with the mouse.

The 2405 has a similar height as a 20", but wider.

The 2005 has a similar height as a 17", but wider.

You should ask yourself: do you wanna a 17"or a 20" monitor?

Then add the widescreen factor to it.

never heard of a 6600Ft.....jp with yahh Umm no it will not be enough unless you like playing with no AA/AF medium/low textures (mostly low).

I recommend you get what your system can support.

I have my 3800+ X2 running at 2600MHz (stock is 2000MHz) on factory air cooling. If you did that, I bet you could keep your video card pumping 1920x1200 pixles real happily. Of course, I have a 7800GTX, (/me blows imaginary dust off of my fingernails, polishes them on on shirt front, whistles self-satisfiedly).

I couldn't afford a 2405FPW when I first set my interests on the 2005fpw. It was a tough decision but after reading, comparing size, (and getting much more money through a new job) I bought the 2405fpw (when I could barely afford it) and I'm extremly satisfied with my purchase. It's large enough that it makes for a beast of a computer monitor and still larged enough to watch DVD's from a distance. Anamorphic DVD's are only an inch smaller than on my ancient hulking (and now abandoned) 27" flatscreen 4:3 crt. IMO this monitor is the perfect size.

My dad owns the smaller 2005FPW and it looks pretty small in person. It's still a good monitor no doubt but I couldn't imagine watching DVDs on it and being as immersed in games as I am with my 2405.

And for those that say you absolutely need 1920x1200 at all times. Try actually scaling down to a lower resolution in games for once. The monitor scales extremely well. I don't get why people say you absolutely need to play native resolution with these yet there are people with $5000 plasma or LCD TV's that scale the resolution all the time. In fact there are people that are happy and playing the Xbox 360 on this monitor and that's at only 720p resolution.

Scaling lower resolutions on the monitor is no big deal at all. Scaling lower resolutions on my CRT was more of a pain because the apeture grill lines were more apparent. I think the LCD scaling thing is something CRT people use as an excuse to naysay people from buying LCD. Or perhaps LCDs used to scale like crap but I've been satisfied with my 2405FPW in games at lower resolutions. And let's just be realistic here people, there's not chance in hell you're going to get games like FEAR to run at playable settings @ 1920x!200 even with the highest end cards in SLI.
