<< fast compared to what ?!?!? When I think of VW, the word fast does not come to mind. Just slow and ugly. I'll agree with cheap out of blind faith. >>

Muthaf8cka...you BEST be removing yo foot from yo MOUTH!!! The VR6 corrado will play around will BEAT Integra GS-RS, keep up with Mustang GTs, and antagonize BMW M3s. The Lysholm equipped Corrado with quaiffe differentials will just f'n blow your mind if it's as powerful as people say it is. 197HP at the wheels in a 2,600lb car. Makes you giddy, doesn't it?

Corrado VR6 times:
0-60 6.4
1/4 mile: 15.0 at 94mph
141MPH top speed.

Corrado G60:
0-60: 8.2
1/4 mile: 16.1
Top speed: 132mph

In 1992, the Corrado was deemed the best handling FWD car by Automobile magazine. It has excellent grip(VR6 .84G, G60 .81G), sharp steering, and excellent ride. It even sits 4 passengers in comfort that surpasses other sport coupes in the same class.

If you think this is ugly...well...what gives you the right to call any other cars mentioned in this thread, beautiful?

BTW. Corrado's are NOT cheap. If you get them cheap, you pay out your arse trying to get them to excellent conditions. They are fickicky cars if abused. If you want fast and comfortable the SLC is the car of choice. It costs a wee bit much though. Expect to pay $10,000+ for an excellent condition 'rado. As for G60s, I wouldn't pay more than $6000. With G60s though, you have the option of going StageIV with the Lysholm Supercharger. 197HP at the WHEELS!!!

Fast, exciting, rare and beautiful.

Jeez, didn't know the Corrado's were that fast. They look decent, but who cares when you can run the 1/4 in 15 flat! That'd give my CSX some comp

Ok dude, I'll admit the Corrado looks better than most VW's (expecially that POS bug). But $10k+ for one in good condition? Hmmph. I'd rather spend that on a 93-94 Trans Am which looks ahelluva lot better and will run circles around your corrado.

Maybe if a nice used Corrado could be had for $3-4k it would be a good suggestion for this thread, but it seems to be way out of extra's price range, doesn't it?

FYI, my foot is not in my mouth. Better watch it or will I plant it somewhere else.

Urgh...sport coupes and pony cars are completely different cars.

If you want a Trans-Am you get:
A Great Engine
Horrible resale value.

If you get the Corrado you get:
Excellent brakes
excellent suspension
excellent steering feel
good torquey engine
good fuel economy
european refinement
european comfort
features and ameneties not found in cars in the same class today
Timeless looks
An exclusive car
EXCELLENT resale value.

Me thinks these items belong on the T/A list as well:

Excellent brakes
excellent suspension
excellent steering feel
good torquey engine
Timeless looks
An exclusive car

good fuel economy - hehe, got me there
european refinement - ?
european comfort - I'm quite comfortable in a T/A, can't speak for the people in back tho
features and ameneties not found in cars in the same class today - like what? but for a used price of over 10k I'd lean towards a used Caddy ETC or STS or a BMW if I wanted all the toys

Actually I was looking for a ~95 ETC or STS when I found my T/A. Maybe next car. Too bad the Caddys are FWD the last few years (97+?)

To each his own, right? It really would be a good idea to test drive the car your thinking about getting. People are comparing to completely different classes of cars here. A mustang/camerero size car handles completely different from a small sports coupe. Since I love the tight cornering of a smaller car, I can't give any advice on cameros or mustangs, but if you're looking for a smaller car, I'd definately second the prelude si, my dad's got one and its a solid, quick, great cornering car. Another one that was mentioned were the DSM's (talon/Laser/eclipse) I just bought a talon tsi AWD and I love it so far, but haven't had it long enough to say anything about reliability. With the turbos I think it depends alot on how the car is treated, turbos are much pickier than normal cars. I do recommmend the AWD for handling in the snow, mine feels great, I hardly slip around at all. If you do end up looking in that direction, check out www.dsm.org its got all sorts of info on the cars, mainly alot of mods, but also ten years of problem fixes archived.
