Help me pick a 2TB HD

So I want 2 2 TB hardrives for a RAID for my new build. I have a SSD OS drive. I have narrowed it down to these basically on ratings/price.

I am buying two to setup in a raid to store movies/pictures/some games/etc. To me performance is not a huge factor since I have an SSD. Would you do a 59.99 Hitachi (after rebate) or a 79.99 Samsung. I have never had a HD die on me so the 1 egg ratings of the Hitachi vs the Samsung kinda concern me but most people are saying to get the Hitachi.

All HDs will fail, and unless you want to gamble, you always need a backup strategy.
Once you have a good backup strategy, then it don't really matter which HD you pick for the most part.

I also think you should take the "reviews" on newegg with a grain of salt.

If speed isn't a huge factor, then don't raid them. Get the cheaper drive, and backup important data regularly.

Don't lose your pictures or your wife/GF/mom/sister/aunt will kill you.

I have been using 4 of the Samsung F4s for several months in a NAS, they're ok.

There is a firmware patch for the drive to install, so I wold go with the Hitachi drives you list, cheaper, plus a faster bus.

Currently, using 2 Samsung F4s in my PC, 1st one 10 months old, the 2nd just installed a few weeks ago. They're fine, but you should update the firmware just to be safe even though the latest ones are supposedly already patched.

Just got a Samsung a few weeks ago. As noted above I flashed mine even though many sources say the ones manufactured after Dec 2010 are already updated. The problem is the firmware version shown in the update utility doesn't change so I wanted to be sure.

Anyway, haven't had it long but it's working great so far - cool and quiet. No RAID though, just using it to back up my movies.

"Ratings" are not real reviews of the products.
They are subjective not objective evaluations.

"Price"... In the long run a few bucks here or there won't matter at all.
