Help me please!!!Computer wont shutdown.

Help, after a power outage(improper shutdown), when I try to shutdown windows properly it just restarts. I have tried unplugging it. When I pluged it back in it just restarts. Also the power button just causes the same restart. Has this happened to any one else?

Hmm. It looks like this might have to do with the power managment controls in Windows. Have you tried reinstalling the motherboard resources. (e.g: removing componenets such as "power button" under system devices and reinstalling them.

Also, have you tried updating the BIOS to the latest version?

When it restarts, Does it even go into Win98?? Or it just restarts and restarts over and over again?

Probably the start button on the machine somehow has become kaput.
Try this--open the case and unplug the power switch wire on the motherboard. Be very carefull and short the pins momentairly that the power button was connected to if the machine starts and shuts down using this method the switch is no good.
