There are stability problems with my new system A7V with 1Ghz t-bird.

1)The system goes into blank screen, just like powersaving mode, while I'm typing word prossesing or playing but it does not let me get back to windows. Neither Alt+F4 or
Alt +tab or Cont + Alt + Del would let me get back to windows and the only way I know for
sure to get back to windows is to reboot system with rest botton.

2)Also sometime when the system trys to access SCSI device, it totally locks up my entire system. Is this something has to do with IRQ stuff?

3)Is 56 degree too hot for this cpu?

Anyone know any solution for those problems?

Have you tried flashing to the latest BIOS and updated to the latest VIA 4-in-1 driver?

You sure your power supply is good enough to handle all your components? With what you have in there you might even need a bit more that 300W.

Hmmmmm, 56C is a bit on the hotside.

For a 1gig you should get an Alpha, that coolermaster just aint good enough, . (Even though they say its good for up to 1.2)

Also turn off all power options in the BIOS... windows will control that, and when both are on it can cause problems like this.

might be an irq problem, try removing everything besides the scsi card and vid, then see if it works also update to the latest driver and bios for the scsi card.

I have the same problem with using sleep mode, when it goes to sleep it doesn't wake up!

Your best bet would be shut off the power saving modes, if you want to conserve energy then just shut of the monitor, or even your whole system. Not a problem for me, I boot up Win98 in under 30 seconds with my 1.1 Ghz and A7V.

I think PCI slots 1 and 2 share an IRQ so try moving the SCSI card down to the last slot, that might fix it.

I'm running at 50C right now and 53C max. I would try to make the system under 55C max if possible. Although Ghz+ systems exert alot of heat. Try applying some thermal paste, that might solve some heat problems. Also case cooling is also very important, expecially exhaust fans. My system came bare with just PSU fan and it ran hot at 57C, adding an exhaust 80mm fan reduced it to 50C.

>>>Have you tried flashing to the latest BIOS and updated to the latest VIA 4-in-1 driver?
I have already tried latest bios 1005c and VIA driver 4in1425(1)a but no luck so far

>>>You sure your power supply is good enough to handle all your components?
Is Antec 300w PS adaquate enough for handling my system? Would PS make whole a lot of
difference? How much power do you think my syste need?

>>>For a 1gig you should get an Alpha, that coolermaster just aint good enough,
I totally agree with you. I have checked tomshardware review for heatsink and found out that
alpha or fop32 can drop upto 3-4 degree from current heatsink but I'm having problem locating
store where they carry either one of heatsinks.

>>>Also turn off all power options in the BIOS... windows will control that, and when both are on it can cause problems like this.
Yup, the first think I have tried was kill bios setting for going into powersaving mode. A strange thing is that it happens when I 'm using keyboard.

>>>might be an irq problem, try removing everything besides the scsi card and vid,
SCSI card is located righ below video on slot 1 and slot 2 has no device for purpose of reducing irq sharing with promise chip. My VGA revision is beta 5.0.3073 from www.rage3d.com.

flash the latest bios it cleared up all my problems with my A7PRO (very similar Asus mombo)

before buying a new heatsink try your old one with artic silver... scrape off all the thermal tape gunk, clean it with wd40,then clean it again with 99%alcohol rubbing alcohol... it will bring your temp down atleast 3-5 degrees...

put a fan in your case

a 300W power supply might be needed as a last resort
