find out the best combo with the best actual ram bus and oc it to 2.6
and 3-5fps in a graphic intensive game is like a considerable oc to ur vid card, and if u got that by just ocing ur cpu, u should be happy

and i forgot to add, settings below 7/10 doesn't work well for me, just keep that in mind that some ram multipliers may not like certain setups

i think ur best shot would be lowering the ram multi to 7/10 and then getting the htt back above 950, every1 has their own take on this, but i wouldnt go out of 950-1050 for stability issues
then lower the trfc to 12 and then trc to 10, these two timings will work, the reason for the lower benches could be caused by the instability and a lower rambus, it seems kinda weird to me that u actually jumped from 215 to 230 bus speed and is still stable

for benching, i wouldnt consider everest so seriously, i would look at pcmark

Memory Max was 240

That seems way to high for that ram, especialy with the timings you are running. Based on your last update your currently running the ram at 236mhz, which is probably your problem. Try using a lower ratio to keep the memory closer to 200.

Try these settings:

FSB 325
CPU Multi 8x
Htt 3x
Mem Divider 133(3/2)

Hi, I tried those settings, works fine, but my memory bench from sisoft sandra has gone down a lot. I bumped my FSB to 335 but its unstable and failed prime instantly.

@xgunnas32 - The TRFC and TRC settings you suggested didn't work originally, but now i've got it running at TRFC - 13 and TRC - 11. This with 328*8 and mem running at 236mhz I got the highest mem bench score in Sandra yet, which was pretty cool. Oh and I tried running PCmark 04 and 05, but I can't see the final score as it says something about running the suite, so I gave up. I can't change the multi to 10x, i'm limited to 9x max, but I can go below that obviously. I'm not too sure what you meant by that though. Also about the FPS, yah I recognize that even a few FPS is pretty impressive, but I just can't understand why 3dmark05 is so damn low?? I figure if anything it should be higher, but its actually lower/same than what I got on stock. I don't know if this is normal with the program or not.

do these things,
install media player 10
install media encoder 9

right click "my computer", properties, advanced, proformance settings, "adjust for best appearance", apply, then run pcmark05 over

if everything else is working fine except 3dmark, which is mainly a test for the vid card, then check the settings on the vid card.

post ur 3dmark asap after u get them

i also suggest u to lower the fsb by 3-5mhz for more stability after u are done with pcmark, cause my highest setting that ran pcmark failed 10minutes into prime, lower it by 3 on the fsb made it 2hours, 5hours when i lowered it by 5

i dun think 40mhz makes THAT much difference

This is why you find the max of your CPU before overclocking the RAM.

I did all that but it's still failing at the transparent windows test (comes up as N/A) even though i've set it to 'adjust for best appearence'. I'll probably try setting it to 'let windows decide' and run it again, maybe that'll fix it.

if u are failing pcmark, then the rambus is too high, way too high, try doing a multi that will keep ur ram at around 215

Ok that didn't work. I'm not sure if i'm 'failing' since i'm getting the individual scores on the things that are being tested and just an N/A next to transparent windows. But yeah, it could be because of a bad oc, I will try again on stock and report back.

Edit: Yeah on stock it worked, got a score of 2738. I'm convinced its cuz of the unstable OC, explains my 3dmark05 scores as well. I'm going to OC but lower the ram freq and run 3dmark and Pcmark and see what I get.

ok maybe u were talking about something else

i thought u meant that ur comp just jams in the middle of test 3 in pcmark, the one with the transparent windows, go try prime95 on that last setting and see how long u can keep it going

if u have install media player 10
and media encoder 9 and it's still doing that, then i dunno, but the only test i would look at for overall system proformance is pcmark05

im trying sandra right now got 13253/5923 , whatever that means, i dun wanna bother looking for other ppl's #s

I just lowered my settings and got 3347. 320*8 (2.5ghz) mem is at 213mhz CPU/11 (133 i think) and TREF set to auto. Atleast i'm getting scores now.

Well the most stable OC I got was 2.60 I think, but yeah. I got it up to 325*8 and CPU/12 (216mhz) now and Pcmark was 3374 =/. Haven't tried 3dmark yet, will do it tomorrow, gonna sleep in a bit. So is this it then? Can I do anything else or do you think this is the best I can do with my current system? Thanks.

Try these two utilities - they helped me achieve 318 X 8.5 and some really excellent memory speeds
A64Mem freq 1.1 utility - fill out the first few boxes
A64 Tweaker is a good utility as well

try the different combinations and use whatever gives u the highest pcmark, dun look at the bandwidth, read/write cause that doesnt matter, str8 up pcmark or sandra
since ur cpu went up to 2.7 with the best scores

ps, only if u are sure that the crashes at 2.7 wasnt because of the cpu at ur max voltage/temps (blue screen, wont backup CMOS)

Thanks, i'll try those out. The reason I haven't been using 'half' multis, is because I read somewhere that it actually reduces performance of the ram or something. Something like that, so i've stuck with full 8 or 9s.

@xgunnas32: See i'm still a little confused. I've read that mem bandwidth doesn't matter, and just try to achieve the highest CPU clock at the expense of ram. So i've been goin by sandra, and everytime I had a higher clock, my scores usually went up. But then my Pcmark and 3dmark scores are so miserable. For instance I got 68xx on 3dmark05 on stock, but 62xx on OC. I think I even got 7k+ when I clocked it to 2.3ghz but had the mem freq high. Anyway, I will continue to experiment, thanks for all your help everyone.

I changed it around a little and used the following settings:

325*8 (2.6)
216mhz ram CPU/12

CPU startup vid - 1.425
CPU vid - 1.425
CPU vid special control - 110%

CPC - Enabled
TCL - 2.5
TRCD - 04
TRAS - 07
TRP - 04
TRC - 11
TRFC - 13
TRRD -05
TWR - 03
TWTR - 02
TRTW - 05
TREF - 3120

Bank interleave - disabled

DQS Skew Control - INCREASE
DRAM Drive strength - Auto
Dram data drive strength - 3
Max async latency - 7x
Read preamble - 5x
Idle cycle - 256
Dynamic counter - disabled
R/W Que Bypass - 16x
Bypass Max -7x
32 byte granularity - disable 4 bursts

Now i'm getting 7507 in 3dmark05 and 4446 in PCmark05 but my 'chipset' temp is also up to 54C under load (Cpu is fine though). So obviously i'm getting a lot more now than I did before. Anyway to increase this further? I'll continue to experiment.

Okay here is an update.

325*8.0 (2.60ghz)

RAM settings:
DRAM Frequency - 216mhz CPU/12
CPC - Enabled
TCL - 2.5
TRCD - 03
TRAS - 07
TRP - 03
TRC - 10
TRFC - 13
TRRD -04
TWR - 03
TWTR - 02
TRWT - 04
TREF - 3120

DRAM Bank interleave - Enabled
DQS Skew Control - INCREASE
DQS Skew Value - 100
DRAM Drive Strength - "WEAK 3" (5 i think)
DRAM Data Drive Strength - LVL 3
MAX Async - 08
DRAM Response Time - FASTEST
Read Preamble time - 05
IDLE Cycle limit - 64 cycles
Dynamic Counter - DISABLE
R/W Queue Bypass - 16x

32 byte Granularity - DISABLE (4 bursts)

Scores:
3DMARK05 - 7654
PCMARK05 - 4552

Don't know if I can get it higher but that would sure be nice. =) Thanks.

Edit: Using 2.5 LDT and Chipset volt 1.8 gave me 2 points more in 3dmark, though not sure how exactly it works.

lowest the chipset voltage to the lowest possible and see if it works , the scores looks good, i think u need more volts for 2,7, depending on temps and this is winter, u may want to stay there first, and the ram is already running around 215 like it should, the likely choice would be to change ram divider and up fsb, but the diff btwn 2.6 and 2.7 would be like 7654 to 7700 on 3dmark and 4552-4700 on pcmark if u wanna go thru all that trouble

I see your point buddy, I think i'm fine with this now. I raised it to 2.640ghz (330*8) and lowered my LDT to 2.5 or 2.0. That brings my ram to 220mhz and I got 7668 in 3dmark05. Overclocked my GPU to 479/1.22 and managed to pass the 8k mark to 8012. Also happy at the fact that I found out pressing ESC at the awful and boring CPU tests still gives me the 3d score =). Haven't done PC mark yet but will in a bit. I'm happy with this, and after a few hours of gaming etc. it seems perfectly stable so far. I also purchased a thermalright xp-90 with a silentcat fan on top (50something cfm) and my temps have dropped by 10C or so. Had to remove the antec air duct but I think that's only useful if you're on stock. Some people are suggesting me a couple of settings to get it up to 2.70ghz, so I'll still keep trying now and then, but I have a feeling this might be my max.

Again, I appreciate everyone posting in this thread and helping me out. I got far more help here than I did on the dfi forums, and learned a ton. Thanks all.

htt near 1000 is optimal, u dont really notice performance increase if you're lower though. i dont know but i think over 1000 is not really advised.

Going over 1000 is not very usefull as it does not increase performance at all. The HTT bus is not saturated one bit right now, going as low as 700-800 really has no performance impact. You should really just worry about keeping it somewhere between 800-1000.

yup
