Help me troubleshoot my new Shuttle!

Got the SN68SG2 (nforce 630a). Couldn't install Windows from my LG GGC-H20L bluray/hddvd/dvd drive, which was pretty much expected (couldn't do it with my nforce 430 machine either). The REAL kicker was once I got Windows installed via an IDE drive, the LG was recognized in device manager, but showed up as a "CD/DVD Rom", and would hang explorer if I tried to put a disc in.

I tried installing shuttle's included drivers, but they barked at me, so I grabbed the latest from nvidia's site. Neither of those packages included an updated SATA driver (I think that's the real issue here). This LG drive worked flawlessly in the nforce 430 system.

Any thoughts at all?

And both Shuttle's firmware and the LG's firmware are the most recent builds.

What kind of disk where you putting in? DVD CD or BluRay?
I've heard that BluRay drives are finiky and you can't use them all to install OSes and you have to install a driver for them before they actually work.

I was just putting in the driver cd that came with the mobo (an actual cd, probably). I think it has something to do with the fact that the BIOS is set to run SATA as IDE, and Windows in refusing to install an nvidia IDE driver.

Hey Zapp, I happen to have the exact same problem with the SN68SG2 and the LG GGC-H20L down here, and the crappy nForce sata-controller is our demon
I've researched the problem a bit myself for a few months, and the easiest solution is to plug the drive into a separate pci(-e)card satacontroller, and voilá.

I'm still looking for a separate driver to be able to use the onboard sata solution...haven't had any luck so far.

I found the solution! You have to go into the BIOS and set the SATA mode to AHCI. The big bummer with this is that you have to reinstall Windows immediately, as the current install won't understand what you've just down; it will probably reboot on an infinite loop. If you are reinstalling Vista or Win 7, you don't need extra drivers, but if you are reinstalling XP (ugh, why!), then you might need AHCI drivers. I had to fully patch Vista (SP1 + all little updates) before the drive would read Blurays correctly.

LOL.. just stumbled upon the AHCI solution myself, while trying to solve the next problem.......
Everything is working right out-of-the-box for me now: blu-ray - HD-DVD - normal DVD, it's all good.
Can't believe it was just this bios setting...- I suck..- ahem

Just now trying to find out how to get my X2 5000+ Black Edition working properly: Multiplier is set at 13x at all times, and stock voltage is set at a way too high 1,35.
That's the setting for the normal 5000+, my BE should run at 1,25 volt stock.

And to make matters worse, this Shuttle applies 0,4 volt too much for any processor I've tried so far. And under full load it adds another +0,2/0,3 volt correction, adding up to a total of 1,39volt idle and 1,42 load setting for my current X2...argh!!!!

Going to email Shuttle about this... hoping for a Bios fix..
