I haven't changed anything from my computer for about 3 years. What can handle most games today for about $150?
My system specs are in my sig.
Thanks.
what res would you like to play at? I cant believe you put such a pitiful gpu with a cpu like that and then stuck with it for 3 years. btw how much system memory do you have?
well I have an 8600gt and know that it is hardly capable of gaming at 1280. so yeah I can barley imagine buying that gpu in the first place much less keeping it for this long if he actually likes to game. he has a good system otherwise and has really missed out on enjoying it by keeping such a low end card in there. and yeah my bad for not noticing the ram.LOL you always have a way with words and make people feel sooo welcome. Anyways, I believe the "Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500c5 X2" in his signature is indicative to his RAM, with 4096 saying he has 4 gigs worth.

Thanks. Will my Seasonic 500 Watt PSU be enough to run a GTX460? I heard that it's a power hog.

No, its just average in power consumption at worst. Your power supply would be fine. If you just do light or infrequent gaming a GTS 450 would be a massive improvement over what you currently have and save you a bit of cash in the process.

are we allowed to laugh at OP's gaming card? ;] alright just kidding, I used to game on worse card than 8600s myself. Anyhow, for $150, I'd get the 460GTX 789mb or wait for black friday sales that would bring either 460GTX 1GB or the newer HD6850 to 150AR that would be more ideal upgrade.
If nVidia releases the GTX 560, then I imagine the GTX 460 prices should drop quite a bit since the GTX 560 is supposed to be a sub $200 product. So, wouldn't hurt to wait just a bit longer and see what happens next week when the 500 series launches, then jump on a GTX 460 1GB which may very well be in that price range. If you have to have one now, go with the 460 768MB.
I don't think the gtx560 will be out next week, I believe the gtx 570 and 580 comes first, but I have been wrong before.
I heard a DEC. release date for the 560 though.
Dude, spend the extra $25 and go for the newly released 6850. After using that 8600 for 3 years this 6850 will probably last the rest of your life!
