Help me upgrade my OS

Ok, I have Win98SE on my PC now. I have a copy of Win2K Pro laying around I'd like to install on my networked PCs (2 of them). On my PC there is only one HHD (1 partition). Would I have to format the C drive and lose all my stuff in order to do a clean install of 2K? If I re-partition into 2 drives and set Windows alone in one could I then do a fresh install of 2K on the D drive (OS drive) and not lose all my apps on C? Any info would be great!

You should be able to upgrade from 98 to 2k without formatting at all. Of course you should always backup your data before doing something like this just in case something goes wrong.

ME is 98se with more bloat. It should work fine.

He's right, it should work.

On partitioning, everytime you partition, you are effectively whipping out the HD since it has to create new tables. There is no way to keep WIN98 on a single partition and then create a new partition on the same HD (meaning you now have two partitions) and expect Win98 to be sitting anw waiting there.

I recently upgraded from 98 to 2k, and now have major problems with running Homeworld and Homeworld Cataclysm in opengl mode (D3D mode works fine). I've installed/uninstalled the detonator drivers for my GeforceMX card, and now am using the ASUS drivers tha came with the card. have you encountered anything like this before. I'm about to wipe the whole thing in a few weeks and redo everything from scratch (after adding in a second HD), so I'm just curious as to what the problem is.
