Help me with ECS K7S5A

The board with a 1700xp processor and 512 of crucial sdram. An ATI video card is the only card in the system. I fired this up last night and got some errors about bios settings being wrong. I got into the bios and set the sdram and FSB to 133 and rebooted. I installed winxp and service pack and shut down. I turned it on this morning only to get the same error I had to change the sdram and FSB, I am pretty sure it said something about the battery being dead also. Anyhow it booted to windows fine after adjustment in the bios.

So anyhow I decided to take out the battery and test it the meter reads 2.99V which I think is good for a 3V battery. So I put the battery back in and fire it up the fans come on along with the led's on the front but that is it. No video signal no beeps. I tried to reset the bios with the jumper. Any suggestions. Do you think I need to send it back?

Edit/ I just put in a new battery and I still can't get this thing to do anything. I have cleared the cmos again and reseated the video card and ram. I even tried to start it up without the video card and ram and still there is no beeps from the speaker. I could sure use some ideas.

We had a lot of problems at work with bad k7s5a boards. One in particular gave up on its PS/2 mouse port and would sometimes forget about its hardrive.

I'd say get it replaced.

I have this board...video seating can be hard. If it's the video you'll get two beeps...a space..and then a bunch of beeps fast. I'd try to reseat that...or try a different vid card..possible pci...

Thanks enigma I don't get any beeps.

Here are some of the things that I tried last night. I bought new battery no help. I reseated vid card many times. I tried several power supplies. I tried to boot without vid card still no beeps. I reseated ram and used other slot. I even tried to boot without the mem installed and still no beeps. I pulled the board out and laid it on foam and still it would power on but the video never came on nor give any beeps of any kind.

Looks like this goes back to newegg. I have not had to return anything there before. Do I have to call or email them?

Thanks foofoo I got it filled out.

As for the k7s5a I have read of numerous problems on the forums. In the problem threads are always comments about good luck with them. This is actually my 2 build with this board the last was flawless. It is hard to beat an upgrade to 1600xp for $110.
