Hey guys, I some help with my PC audio setup.
So with my old setup I was running an x-fi sound card with an external console where I plugged in my sennheiser hd600's. Additionally, I play my ps3 on my computer monitor, so I used an optical cable into the external console, so i can get audio through my headphones. This allowed me to do two things. First I had external volume control, and second I could listen to mp3's from my computer while playing on my PS3.
Now when I upgraded my rig and installed win7, I could not get any drivers to work from creative labs with my old hardware so now i need to upgrade my setup.
So what I need is a card with an optical in (preferably out as well for external speakers) and some kind of external controller to plug my headphones in(1/4" jack) and adjust volume.
The catch is that i'm on a pretty tight budget and would like to spend less than $300 for the whole setup. Also i don't have space for a full sized receiver and need something very compact. Any help is appreciated...
