I've a Audigy gamer and connected to ACS-48, and each time, I shut down my system using this Shutdown Now, the system when scheduled to terminate, will exit with a loud "pop" or bursting kind of sound. What is wrong? Previously, I didn't encountered such audible "sudden burst-pop" sound everytime, my Shutdown Now is closing my Windows, therefore, can someone assist me to find out the culprit and get back my normal system becos I'm afraid that consistence such abrupt "pop" noise might damaged my ACS-48 or even worst should I intends to upgrade to more high end sets???

Thank you.

It's common for soundcards to send a burst of garbage noise as they shut down. Many audio/video components do this too if you truly power them off instead of press the power button to put them into their sleep mode.

but if i turn it off, then I wouldn't be using that auto shutdown now programs, becos' i would usually listen to watch some TV shows & designate a timed shutdown.

My klipsch's do that when I turn off the computer. I just lower the volume on them so I don't hear the pop.

the only thing that you can really do is try to minimize it by keeping the speaker volume low and the OS volume high in their ranges, b/c the ammount of garbage sent when shutting the card down will be the same either way but w/ the speaker amp turned down it shouldn't be as loud. Most equipment stereo and computer alike i have encountered has this pop of garbage

Thanks 4 trying to help, but previously, I'm using the other SB Live! with the same pair of speakers in this same system but then there is not such a garbage sound produced while system is automated shutting down with that Shutdown Now program.

That's why I wondered what might caused this Audigy sound card to have such noise? any other ways that can resolved totally? w/o needs of turning off my speakers' power 1st before shutdown?

Thanks

It isn't a problem so you won't get any fixes. If you don't like the pop go back to your sb live.

Well it must be something in his paticular sytem
because the only soundcard I have ever used that made such noise is
the M-audio Revolution and it is a known problem
I have an audigy and Audigy 2 neither of them make said noises never have
also have a terratec aureon space and it makes no said noise.

Yeah, but he is correct that there isn't a fix for this. This is normal for the Audigy. I've had three of them in various configurations and they all did that, as well as my old Acoustic Edge. If it's really that annoying, learn to live with turning the speakers off before shutting down. If you can't, then you need to get another sound card.

Is the sound card seated properly? Is there a good ground where the speakers plug into the sound card?
It sounds like a static electricity problem to me. Before you go to a different sound card I'd try everything I could.
Check all the wiring conections inside the case. Are you using digital audio or the analog cable to the sound card?
Good Luck

all audio components pop when you turn them on or off unless they go out of their way to avoid it. those that don't pop are utilizing a "soft-on/off" system to avoid that. the audigy obviously doesn't have one. be careful, you can damage your speakers with that pop, although that's rare.

As long as the volume is low or off you shouldn't do damage though right? I turn my volume on the speaker all the way down so the pop can't be heard.
