I have an Optiquest Q71 which I run on a TNT2 at 85hz at 1024x768 in Windows 2000.

I've been having problems with it for the past two months.

In the beginning, the screen would go green for a second or two. No biggie I thought.

Then a few weeks later, the screen would turn green, and stay that way. A slap (no joke here) on either side of the monitor would bring it back to the normal colour.

THEN, no video would show at all (blank, black screen). Only a REALLY hard slap on either side of the monitor would bring the video back.

FINALLY, I am having a combination of the above problems, PLUS it fades to black when I do manage to get the video back...

I've tried swapping video cards (Swapped my Diamond v770 TNT2 AGP with a Voodoo3 3000 PCI) to no avail. Have also checked connections to ensure that they are secure.

I've heard that this could be a voltage problem of some sort? Or is it?

Help!

(And yes I could concievably get a new monitor, but I'm a cash strapped student saving up for University...)

I had the same problem with a previous monitor. My problem occured after a move (via a moving company), I think they dropped my monitor and jarred something loose on the inside. Anyway I discovered when I moved the monitor cable leading to the computer the screen returned to the proper color and the green was gone as long as I didn't move the cord again.

If you have to slap the monitor to get it back to normal, I don't see how the video card could be the problem as it wasn't touched. My guess is something inside the monitor case is loose but that is just a guess.

Good luck and hope this helps,

Check your cable from monitor to video card.I have the same problem (my monitor turns yellow). After moving cable it,s back to normal.I have to do it from time to time so there is probably problem inside the cable (it's little twisted at the end).I'm too lazy to replace cable so I simply kick the cable when monitor turns yellow.
