I just installed a VisionTek Geforce2 MX400 64MB AGP... I get horizotal lines, like the the refresh rate is set at 50Hz but its at 100Hz! Please any ideas on this would be great... (1.7GHz P4 // Intel 850GB M/B)

does it at all different refresh rates and resolutions... I had a GeForce 3 Ti500 in here and also a Radeon to test it, they both work fine... just the MX400 does it. 2 different monitors... the MX400 was in my Athlon system and didnt seem to do it there... I am confused, I am going to throw this card in my PII 400 and see what it does. Could it be a bad card? or is it a voltage thing?

Dark4ng3l... if I remember right you are always anti-intel.... Please, I am looking for answers, not smartass comments. I have Intel and AMD systems, I will take my Intel over my Athlon anyday, but unfortanately I am strapped for cash and I have to sell it. So please, unless you are going to post something helpful, dont bother posting in this thread at all!

Thanks,MB

AH, ok, why is this not working. I put a Vanta TNT2 16MB AGP in it... same damn problem! But yet the GeForce3 Ti500 and ATI Radeon work perfectly... I dont get it! ARGH! There is no voltage settings for this motherboard at all!

make sure your video card is a 1.5v card and NOT a 3.3v card (the P4 chipsets don't like the 3.3v cards).

Its the D850GB motherboard... again, like I said, it works with the Radeon and Geforce 3 Ti500 but MX400 and Vanta TNT2 do not work... gives me what looks like a really bad refresh rate.

Intel only supports AGP 4x, putting a 2x card in can damage the board and card. The TNT2s are 2x, the MXs should be 4x but maybe its not working right.

well to my knowledge both cards are 2x/4x agp, I wonder if it has something to do with the cards handling the 4x requirements for juice.

Would a BIOS flash to the card do the trick?? The TNT2 Vanta is only 2x AGP, BUT on Intels site is says 2x/4x agp support!!!

I doubt a bios update could fix, but who knows. I think it has something to do with the hardware though. It probably has to do with some kinda of switching circuitry on the card to switch between 2x and 4x power requirements.

No dice! I cant find a BIOS update for the cards. I have no idea, I emailed VisionTek Support, we'll see what they have to say. I am mad because I need to sell this today, and I really do not want to give this guy my GeForce 3, I am keeping that!

AGP 2x uses 3.3V and 4x uses 1.5V, I'm also positive intel chipsets don't support 3.3V anymore. Although it really doesn't seem what would be wrong.

Do you guys know if there is a fix also for the SB Live! XP and a P4... I get popping once and a while... it has always done that... I put in an Audigy before and that fixed it, but I am keeping that also (cant give him all the toys!) any ideas?

I saw same kind of crap with GF2MX/Win98SE on AthlonXP system lately but that seemed to be Nvidia drivers issue. Windows wanted to always set monitor refresh rate to 48Hz interlaced or 60Hz NI. Changing monitor type and disabling PnP monitor auto detection helped if I remeber right...

I have no options to change the AGP speed in the bios... in windows I can make the change but no difference! Also, it does it even in the BIOS setup screen!
