Alright fellas, I am very much aware of internet scams coming from ebay, paypal and citibank but unfortunately my not-so-internet-savvy-bless-her-heart-gf mistakenly gave info to a verizon scam site.

Email is as follows:

Dear Verizon Member,

The credit card we have on file for your Verizon Internet service was
declined when we attempted to bill you on 09/28/2004 for your
most recent service fees. For this reason, your service could be suspended.
Please visit our Account Information pages, located at http://account.verizon.com,
and update your credit card information as soon as possible.

Once your credit card information is updated, you will be charged
immediately, as soon as payment is received.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. We look forward to
continuing to serve you.

Account ID: 357791
Email ID: 601578
Online Session PID: 44401

Sincerely,

Verizon Customer Care

The true link reads like this:
http://24.232.147.238/verizon-...954309865430986594309/

Here is the link

She enetered everything except for the PIN which she did not enter and when she clicked on next, they asked her for her PIN so she closed the browser.

Question is: Did her clicking on "next" send any info? And if she did, what should she do besides calling the credit companies to place them on a potential fraud alert?

Any guidance and help is appreciated.

EDIT: All right guys, I knew this post would be flame bait - thanks for the suggestions from the helpful people.

If it's "just" her credit card, I'd just call them up and cancel it and get a new one, and go on my happy way.

Cancelling is a little extreme, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure they will issue you a new number with no problems.

Yeah I know but she doesn't go on the net very often so she is unaware of these misleading practices.

The killing her part is a little bit more extreme.

But yeah, giving a social security number ... she may be SOL. Identity theft is pretty serious.

Hey now...some thing happens to men as well...stupid guys who don't know any better. As for the debit card, I'd call the bank asap and just get a new one. And yes, inform verizon since I'm more then sure they wouldn't want this email going out to their customers.

Does she read a paper? Watch the news? Have common sense?

Yeah, this is more of common sense and having nothing to do with gender!

[lame]Yeah..shag the hell out of her....then in the morning, ask her how much she would have enjoyed the evening if it had been a 500lb lard ass haveing his way with her......

when she reals in disgust, remind her that she entered the SSN on the site and that the fat called to make an appointment @ 5am[/lame]

Assume everything is compromised. Search google for tips on what to do if you fall for a phishing scam.

Well technically...

You could actually use this for your advantage. I mean, you take care of the situation for her and such. Then when need be can always hang it over her head when she turns the cold shoulder at night.

Can't believe I'm saying this...but it is true...
