I've got a lot of weeds too but I'm a "Darwinian gardener", I don't interfere with the selection process..

In the winter it's a little tougher, but you can still have success w/ Scott's TB plus.

Remember to wet lawn first so powder sticks to weeds.

That'll get 'em the first time, then remember you'll need to do this all over again about April.

Next up go get some seed for your area. (HD/Lowes will help you select).

After that, get into a cycle of putting season stuff on the lawn. Each season you should be putting something down for control.

If you want less annual effort, then go to sod (scrape layer first) or Chemlawn (still scrape layer first).

Chemlawn usually mixes several grasses so you get a year-round and very dense mix to fight weeds. (assuming you have a good watering system)

I have a bunch of dandelion and clover in my yard right now. I fertilize in the spring using Scott's with weed control and after a couple mowings, no more weeds.

St. Augustine is a native grass to some parts of the US.

Ya, perhaps surprisingly to some........Crab grass doesn't bother me nearly as much as BERMUDA!!!

Once that sh!t gets started.........forget about it!!

That's hell's grass for sure!!!
