I dont know what the heck is wrong! I just purchased an AMD 1900+ (1600) and a Gigabyte 7VRXP mobo, and I cant even get it to boot and it defaults to 1200mhz...I am using a SK6 with Artic silver and attempting to change the FSB to 133(266) on the dip switch, I never get it to boot, and if it does, it's only for 10 seconds. I realize it's probably temp related, but using an SK6 with a delta fan, that was used on an old AMD1333, with those temps running about 40C MAX Load. I even purchased a Volcano by Thermaltake, and that does not change anything. Any help appreciated!

Check your manuall for the MB really carefully. I (actually my buddy) had the same problem with a biostar board. he had tried the jumpers but either the system would not boot at all or it would boot but never posting the correct proc speed (if everything is working right you will see AMD XP whatever+ in the bios "splash" screen).

So I go over to my buddys house and take a look at the manuall and see that there are two jumper blocks that controll what the fsb will be. One is just a single jumper and the other block has 4 jumpers. The manuall tells you exactly what to do to switch to 133fsb but the oreintation of the pictures in the manuall is a little tricky to apply to the actuall mb and the jumpers on it. So we figured out what jumpers needed to stay and what jumpers needed to go.

One other thing that he was neglecting to do was to switch the power supply off before moving the jumpers arround. On his board at least the single jumper had to be removed and the "4 jumper block" was set up (from top to bottom or pin 1 to 8) like this: Jumper on pins 1&2, No jumper on pins 3&4, Jumper on pins 5&6, No jumper on pins 7&8. Again the single jumper had to be removed. All this was done with the power switch turned off and after flashing the bios to the latest version.

Booted up the system after trying to fry his mb with all the static and BAM! AMD Athlon XP 1700+ was the proc that was listed. So just make sure (REALLY sure) that you have done everything right and there should be no problems with you XP proc. working correctly. Good luck and have fun.

Nope, Still running 68-69 C and tried changing from 100 to 133 and it locks ...Don't know what else to do but return the Mobo...BTW the Hard Drive LED does not work, its either on constantly, and when I switch it , its off all together.

Ooooh, thats a little high

I believe Athlons can run with those temps though, although they are pretty high, borderline

Only thing I can think of is double check that your Heatsink/fan is seated properly with either a thermal pad or thermal grease (Arctic Silver 3 is great) with the right amount

I have the same board w/ XP 2000+. The board run fine with first boot. Set your FSB to 133 and set your clock multiplier to auto (if not overclocking). The cpu temperature is a little bit high when used with heatsink that came with the cpu (58C). Now I am using it with PAL8045 w/ low rpm fan @ 48C normal load, playing Diablo II goes to 49C. I've been using it for 3 weeks now and it run great. But I couldn't get one thing to work: The overdrive utility with Windows XP. It installed ok but when launch it says it couldn't load driver. I don't know what the heck with it.

I have tried 2 differnt heatsink/fan setups...the SK6 w/ delta fan, and a volcano w, temps still near 60C. I actually changed the cpu with an older 1.333 Athlon, and as soon as I booted I went into the BIOS...Temp started at about 56c, then 57, 58,59, 60 and climbed to 78C, then I jus t shut it down, as not to kill the CPU. I have also tried using the XP1900 on an Iwill KK266R(original Mobo), and the temps are the same. I'm now planning to return them, and maybe get a P4 1.6A, and ASUS mobo, I have always had good luck with them.

I just thought GA-7VRXP might have temperature reading problem.

I open my windows (This is in Boston) and my cpu temperature is still 48C normal load.
alpha 8045, 2 exhaust fans, 2 instake fans, 1 ps fan all are 80mm.

I could of buy MSI. I bought this board because it has loaded onboard devices.
