i have the following components below and am looking to purchase some dual channel ram for it' i am more concerned with bandwith then timings but am limited to upto 2.8v on the ram' i am planning on 3.6ghz and eventually getting a zalman resonator 1 to get at 3.8ghz later' am wondering what ram to go with at a good price as higher bandwith is my main concern and i really enjoy this particular mainboard...

Gigabyte GT2004 8IPE1000 Pro 2 Mainboard
DIMM overvolt allows me to raise the DRAM voltage from its default of 2.5 up to either +0.1v, +0.2v or +0.3v. At max setting this only gives you 2.8v.

....as for the power supply i have an enermax 2x550watt....

...thanks for your help

If you're getting the Reserator (Zalman), you should be able to take full advantage of OCZ EL gold dual channel PC4000.

Otherwise -- go PC3500.

That's why I picked a 2.4C processor. An over-clocked 3.2C would run too hot for full use of PC4000 without water-cooling.

Umm dont wanna bum you out by ur choice after youve already gone ahead and bought it, but the GeIL 4200 has HORRID CAS latency no matter what I wouldnt go above 2.5 where as the 4200 has 3-4-4-8, if you can still return it I would and then research perhaps some enhanced latency chips by corsair or ocz where the timings are more around 2.5 3-3-6 / 3-3-7 etc you will notice, because mainly unless you need some ungodly 1:1 ratio that requires you to be at something like 266x2 your not even going to use that DDR533, most good DDR433 can o/c to 500 and still get you a 1:1 for 1000fsb, just my 2 cents

I totally didnt read your first post ... but I still say at least go with GeIL 4000 its 2.5 instead of 3 and you will notice a difference.

well very good point' however the frys store in my area discontinued all the ram above pc3700 but just had 1-kit left and that was the giel' you know' in my area, NOBODY sells ram above 3200 and i had to go to the frys in my niehboring city to get it' like a 85 mile drive both ways, i just dont have a credit card for say like ordering from excalibur or newegg so heck' i got lucky that the frys held it till my payday til i could get there to pick it up' well anyway' im not really trying to do anything wild' basically just going to overclock to 3.6ghz for now til i get the zalman' and just need the xtra bandwith' and didnt want to spend that kinda money on anything used' anyway ill post how it goes later today or tomorow when i get a chance' heck i would be more concerned if it wouldnt be compatible with my mainboard.

hehe alright, I went with GeIL 4000 for my 2.8c and my friends still hound me over the fact I didnt go with lower timings. so now I feel like theyve manipulated me into spreading the word on timings hehe.

well thanks for the info aswell' it could come in handy for someone
i had some 3200 oem 2x512 sticks but when i would clock up i would have to lock the ram in the bios by speed since it wouldnt go up with the fsb without blue screening so i couldnt get more bandwith' so im hoping the giel will go up with the fsb and give me more bandwith instead of just 3.2 like on the oem...
