Hi to all!
It's my first post over there, even if I found a lot of cool stuff over there.
After a lot of issues with memory, bios and a lot of other minor problem, I finally reach a "stable" configuration ( I hope ) form my new RyZen system, with a 1700x and Asus PRIME X370-PRO.

I currently change the multiplier to x40 leaving all other parameter auto and the system seams stable ( HyperPi and other CPU intensive stuff completed without any problem )

However with this settings my systems stay at full CPU Frequency (4Ghz) in every load condition. I would like to scale CPU Frequency dynamically with the system load.

Any idea how to get this on X370-PRO? On my "old" Intel i7-4770K can I set manually the multiplier without loosing the dynamic cpu frequency scaling. It's possible with RyZen?

OS: Windows 10 x64 Pro

Ryzen doesn't show its actual core frequency the cores are running at, it will always show as your set speed irrespective of overclocked or not. Internally the cores do clock down to a lower state based on load which is why we see very low power usage when Ryzen is idle.

Don't worry, you're not at MAX POWA constantly

Ryzen scales power usage via hardware when idle even if clocks don't appear to drop. Power usage difference was almost margin of error with High Performance versus Balanced for me.

Maximum power savings can be achieved via P-state overclocking, but I have no idea how/if that works on your board. For me the difference isn't worth bothering.

If you really care about efficiency, 3.7GHz or 3.8GHz is more likely to be your sweet spot as you require considerably more voltage to be stable at 3.9GHz and beyond.

Thanks for all information, the vcore actually scale down when system is in idle or under low load condition, the point is with no OC settings (leaving multiplier in Auto form bios instead set a manual value) I can see also the frequency scale down to 2.2Ghz (With HWMonitor and Windows Task Manager)
If I set a value of multiplier manually, I see always the maximum frequency speed.


What is the power plan in Windows you are using? Use Balanced or AMD Ryzen Balanced
