I'll keep this simple. Every two hours my computer loses it's connection to the outside world. It literally happens at 5pm, 7pm, 9pm, 11pm, etc.
When this happens I cannot connect to my router so it seemed to be something with the computer and not the router/modem. To test this I connected directly to the modem. The problem still occurs. Even doing a system restore to a time before the problem popped up didn't help.
This problem first occured Saturday evening and has happened every two hours since. It can only be "reset" by a reboot.
Any ideas on what to try? I'm not a networking guru so even if you just tell me what to look for that might give me a clue on where the problem is, that would help.
BTW, when this happens, nothing works. No email, ftp, http, etc. Sort of like my system is being locked down by a firewall every 2 hours.
Windows firewall is supposed to be off but when I try to open it I get the following message:
"Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings"
