Help New DVD-ROM only plays some movies

I have bought 2 DVD-ROM drives in the past few days. Neither will play certain DVD's (Shrek and Mickeys Magical Christmas) first one was a Lite-on second an IO Magic.

Both drives installed as slaves on secondary IDE, DMA enabled, set to region 1 in devixe manager (all DVD's region 1). System is and ECS motherboard with a 1gig Duron (Fry's Special) running win2k using powerdvd to play the movies

What happens is that the DVD will start and play the Copywright/FBI notice, and the Disney intro on the disney one and then quit playing, I cannot access the menu of the DVD. Other DVD's work fine.

Tech support at IO magic said lens may be out of alignment and to return the drive (I doubt this)

Is there something in my system I am missing

If the drive works with other DVD's then it surely isnt a hardware issue , sounds like more of a software issue with either PowerDVD or maybe the way those particular DVD's are made . It seems even stranger when your able to view the legal copywrite notice but when it gets to the movie quits on you .

Is your version of Direct X upto date ?
