well it would work with a P4 too but that doesn't mean it would be a wise choice. it would be silly as heck for him to buy a new power supply for a 4850 when a gt240 will give him basically the same playable performance in most games at 1280x1024.Ran an X2 3800 and 4850(now in new Rig) for a year or so. It certainly has benefited a lot from my recent upgrade, but it worked very well in most games with the X2 3800.

So..even if my system only has the generic hp psu.. it may be ok..for 5750. does the 5750 need a prticular connector on psu, or will most psu's come with what i need
maybe not. best case scenario is that he has a 300 watt psu that was unrealistically "rated" for 19 amps on the 12v when brand new. 4 years later and I guarantee that psu can not make anywhere near that in realistic conditions. a system with a 5750 and 3800 X2 could easily come close to maxing what that psu can now make. and if it is a 250 watt psu then there is no way this will work.Your PSU should be able to run the 5750 just fine. I say put it in and see how it works out. You'll never know unless you try anyways.
whats worse case.. psu goes.. or can it potentially kill the 5750, or motherboard.. since i was given the 5750..i saved on the card.. i could prob get a psu.. anything out there for 50 bux or less that will work
THANKS GUYS... If i wanted to try the psu already in here..what are the risks.. just damage to the psu or can it screw everything
hey guys..thnx again. yeah..ive decided to just get another psu. cant afford much, but, anything is prob better than what ive got. im waiting to hear back from a local pc guy to install the video card and a new psu, which he supposedly has..dunno. i cant stand sitting here looking at this new 5750 and not being able to put it in wait, wait... plus he wants 65 bucks to come to me and install. always appreciate ya ability to do things yourself brothers. losing the ability to physically do the simplist things really sucks.
go into bios and make sure onboard audio is set to "on" not "auto".hi guys...thnx again for the help and offer happy..
actually, the pc guy left bout an hour ago. put in a new psu 580w and my msi 5750.. all is well graphically. however..
after he left, i noticed a red x thru my sound icon on my start bar. says no audio output device is installed. i looked in my control panel..i normally use realtek audio from my motherboard.. when i dble clik on realtek icon in control panel..nothing happens. when i go to device manager..under sound..its showing ati high definifion audio device. under sound in control panel..its showing ati hdmi output. but, says not plugged in.
obviously, the new ati 5750 has disabled or overridden my realtek audio. any ideas how to fix this.. ive got better graphics now..but no sound..help..
better get a tru rated psu just to be safe and sure... i got bad experiences on generic psu..So..even if my system only has the generic hp psu.. it may be ok..for 5750. does the 5750 need a prticular connector on psu, or will most psu's come with what i need
