Hey all,
Just wanna know what kind of action should I take in regards to this...
I bought a KT600-a board from local vendor, bought a NEW retail 2400+ (266fsb) chip for another out of town.
Plugged every critical component in (vidcard, ram, PSU, CPU, power switch). Got video post, and ~1 second of bios post, then it shutdown. Swapped out PSU, Ram out (video working fine cause I got AGP post) and same problem. Took off Heatsink and CPU was toasted around one edge beside processor... After swearing some, put in another... my athlon 1ghz testbox chip... Same thing, but the damage to chip was more severe.
I am pretty sure the mobo is defective now and what should I do about my chips? I know the next board I want from them is to be tested, but who pays for these dead chips? In particular the new 2400 ($115US)? Should I claim it from AMD or company who sold me the chip? Should the place I bought the Mobo pay for it?

Thanks to all that can help.
