Ben7el,
Now that you have joined the AnandTech forums, please take some time to actually read the dozens and dozens of threads EXACTLY LIKE YOURS.

Is there some reason you must have people come to your thread and tell you every little thing to purchase, or can you simply read the tons of recommendations already made in the other threads?
Redundancy should only be used in RAID 1.

BTW, You have told us absolutely nothing about how your "first build" would be used.

Well, I'm not going to get into things about how it 'looks' because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Component match up wise it all works fine. You are going to find alot of people using the exact same proc, ram, and mobo combo as yours so sit down, grab a snack, and a drink, and read. Three good forums to view is, Anandtech, HardForum, and XremeSytstems. XtremeSystems has two very good threads about this mobo that many consider a must read. They a re also very very long threads. Anandtech has a official P5W DH thread as well in the mobo section. I suggest you read it as well. HardForum is another site I like that has alot of info as well. Seriously, take alot of time and read because you have a very common setup and its talked about alot if you look in the right places. You need to devote alot of attention to the threads if you intend to overclock. Alot of problems have been presolved by those that came before you. Good luck. You got a fine setup planned there.

It looks very overpriced. I'd make a lot of changes. A lot.

1) The RAM is overkill. You can get a nice pair of 1GB DIMMs for $180 or less. Newegg has a Patriot kit for that price which looks very nice.
2) The motherboard is overpriced and out of stock. The ASUS P5B, at about $160 shipped, is over $100 cheaper, and should serve you just as well. I bet you could get something more than adequate for under $100 if you looked.
3) The monitor, too, is badly overpriced. Newegg has a great Acer 19-incher for under $180.
4) I suggest you get a cheaper case. $50 can get you something pretty cool. I wouldn't spend a penny more than $75 on a component that contributes nothing to performance.
5) I'd ditch the Zalman cooler. If you find the retail hsf inadequate, you can always upgrade later. And if you're spending that much, you might as well go for liquid.
6) The E6300 is less expensive and probably hits the same oc wall as the E6400.
7) Are you sure you need that caliber video card? You're spending more there than on your CPU. That doesn't strike me as balanced.
8) Are you sure $45 for a mouse is a wise purchase? Mine cost $6. Also, you could save a few bucks by getting a generic keyboard.
9) For $5 more, you could get a Samsung DVD burner with lightscribe, without giving up any real-world performance.

Hope that helps.

He has 2 posts....

The case is overpriced

he psu will probobly do the job but I'd suggest something
Power Supply: OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI ATX12V 600W Power Supply 100 - 240V CB/CE/CSA/UL/FCC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817341001
($119.99 after $10.00 Mail-In Rebate)

This is another option incase you'd rather not have 4 extra, useless buttons on a mouse
Mouse: Razer Krait 1600 DPI Gaming Mouse

People always say Seagate is faster somehow

Get OCZ gold 2x1gb ddr2-667 for $140 AR @ newegg. The gigabyte 965p s3 is a good choice for a MoBo for $118 @ ewiz. A good hsf is the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. It is available @ provantage for $21 shipped. BTW if you wan't the x1900xtx, it is available from ZZF for $277 after $150 MIR. It's a big rebate, but worth it if you don't mind waiting. If you want an all alumium case get the lian li pc7b +2 for $90 @ newegg shipped. For the psu, get the enhance 5150gh, it is the superior value and in september, they are releasing a version 3 with 36 amps combined on the 12v rails. It is 80+ certified as well for $80 shipped from ZZF.

I just ordered my new build and it is similar to yours aside a few changes.

I think you should ditch the RAM, MB, & GPU.

I agree with hurtstotalk, the ram is overkill and you could get yourself a much cheaper 2gb kit.
Your planning on getting a E6400 (So did I) so why bother spending all that extra money on an Asus MB? Get the gigabyte DS3 and save $$$ plus from what I've read, alot of members here seem to get better results in O/C using the DS3 & 6400, if you were to go 6600 then yea, I would say stick with Asus.
The video card is a great choice (I got the same thing) but don't get sapphire, the MSI x1900xtx comes with a $150 mail in rebate which is a killer deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127205 Comes out to only $280 after rebate.

As for the monitor, that was one of my first choices but switched and bought the Samsung 940BX after some advice I got from the boards. The monitor came out just recently so theres basically no reviews but for $275 @ 5ms + Samsungs good reputation for most of their lcd monitors, I took the risk.

All good, except I wouldn't buy anything from ewiz, as they have an unsatisfactory record at the better business bureau.

Hehheh, sorry, I made this thread at 2AM so I was sorta tired

I want this comp for gaming, I don't need to have every game I play for the next 4 years be at Ultra high settings, but I also want to at least keep some grapic quality. Also, I don't want to do a major upgrade on this comp in the next 4-5s, maybe get a Directx10 Video Card but thats it.

I have also read alot of threads, most of which are sort of helpful, but I havn't seen anyone with my exact build so I want to make sure it doesn't work for some reason.

Ewiz has great ratings (see resellerratings.com) in all aspects except RMAs... so basically If the stuff does what it's supposed to, you're golden. Anywhere else to buy a e6300 and gigabyte 965p s3 for $305?

I'd say the rig is all good. The only thing I'd change is the graphics card. I'd get an x1900xt instead of an xtx. The price difference just isn't worth the tiny speed increase. Just beware when mounting the PSU, it is a little awkward to get into the hole as it must be mounted sideways.
