Hi all, Ive been at this for some time now and cannot deem to get my ram running at the stated 1066mhz speed setting DRAM 2.20v timings 5-5-5-15 as stated my Kingston.
here are my specs.

Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard.

OCZ Gladiator cooler keeping temps low 20s idol high 50s load.

My A.I settings, could someone fill over mine if thay see something that would help the ram run at 1066. thanks for looking hoping for some help.

The next question is, why do you want your RAM running faster than your FSB? It was proven long ago that there is no real-world performance benefit in doing so. All you are doing is putting more stress on your chipset.

I agree. I've run my RAM at 1066 and there wasn't really any improvement, it's generally best to keep it at 1:1.

Does your northbridge voltage NEED to be that high? It's usually only necessary if your FSB is higher set than mine (400) and my NB stays at a stock 1.1v. My RAM at 1066 didn't need a NB voltage increase either. The P5Q Deluxe NB is pretty capable.

Im not trying to get my ram running faster than my fsb, im trying to get it to run as its stated 1066mhz. My FSB at the moment is 1422mhz @ 3.2ghz o.c

Thats why i put up the settings, for people to to see where i was going wrong and help with the correct ones. if you think the NB it ok at stock i will try it.

My default assumption is there are always stock settings, but also every piece of silicon is different. I wasn't sure if you were doing stress adjustments with the voltage or just setting it there. Understandable since I used to set mine to 1.2v while OCing before I started tweaking for optimized power. It might actually be overvolting the NB that's preventing the RAM from running at full speed.

Im currently running 4x1GB sticks of kingston hyperx pc2-8500 @ 951mhz which is stable for 1 hour using prime95 then worker 4 always gets an error. even without o.c cpu and setting bios to default and then trying to just up the dram voltage to 2.20v and timings to 5-5-5-15 which kingston support states to do i get error warning straight away with prime95. I,d be happy at 3.2ghz o.c with ram running at 1066mhz.

would i see much performance gain trying to get it running at its rated speed of 1066 or should i just leave it at default settings. But then what was the point in buying the pc2-8500?

The ram voltage on the deluxe runs .1v or more Higher than what is set in bios, for instance my ram is spec at 2.1v and 2.0v is right for the bios setting. To narrow the clock down on this board you need to play with the NB voltage, FSB Term voltage, Clock Twister and Performance level. PL is a bit high for your ram IMHO, I run mine at PL8,(but try 10 for now), and Moderate. Do Not run 1:1 if you can avoid it on this board. I assume you are running the 1406 bios?

BTW the bios for this board is 2301 dated 07/10/2009 was the most up to date i could find.
