Help! P4 Heatsink Clip Broken

I was just assembling a computer for a friend of mine with some parts he bought awhile ago. He tried upgrading his own computer but was unseccessful so he asked me to use the parts and build him a whole computer. Well he already had the retail P4 heatsink on and I noticed the one of the four corner clips was broken. What should I do? The processor is a 1.6 GHz socket 478 williamette. Motherboard is an ECS P4S5A. Is it possible to but a new heatsink 'holder' that attaches to the motherboard? Or do I need to buy a new heatsink that attaches directly through the holes in the motherboard like the Alpha PAL8942? Will the Alpha fit on this motherboard?

are you talking about the clips on the socket or the clip on the heatsink... if it's the clip on the socket... then I suggest getting a heatsink that has the clip with three mounting notches on the ends... I'm assuming the socket has three clips on both sides where the heatsing metal clip goes... if you don't know what kind of clip i'm talking about check out this heatsink and look at the clip...

Example for a triple notched heatsink clip...

hope this helps... if you don't have the three clips (assuming one is broken off)... then I suggest getting a MB mounted solution... I wouldn't go with a high end HS like the alpha unless you're gonna (or your friend gonna) OC his CPU... the stock intel fan is fine... GOOD LUCK...
