Help! Peltier for Duron???

i'm sort of new in the peltier world. Can anyone provide me some information about the installation of peltier.

Just bought a 72W peltier with a copper plate(cold plate??)
how to install them?
can it go with a retail h/f?? or need a alpha do to the job?

my comf is duron 600, kt7, kingmax pc133 ram, enlight 7237-250W ps...(only do 800mhz..

By the way, anyone knows what the lowest speed for the duron and kt7 combo??

Coupla points to consider here...

First, how are you going to power that peltier? 72 watts units normally draw 8 amps at about 15v. At 12v you are still looking at about 6 amps, which may be more than your power supply can provide while it is still trying to keep the rest of your system running.

Next, how are you going to cool that monster? Remember, the peltier is generating its own heat (figure ~50 watts at 12v) plus you have the heat of the CPU (roughly ~40 watts for a 900+mhz socket A). That makes what, 90 watts of heat? Any air cooled heatsinks out there that can handle this? Not that I have seen as yet.

Not trying to be a wet blanket here, but you need to know what you are getting into. So, you need another power supply and possibly water cooling as well. It aint easy to be so cool, so keep all of this in mind before expecting to strap a peltier on and run at a terahertz or so...
