I just installed this motherboard, and am getting a constant problem. Whenever I boot into windows, it goes to a blue screen telling me there is some error (doesn't tell what kind of error) at memory address 0E: No file is given. When I reboot, it seems to boot into some other video state at 640:480 without any colors and tells me there is a problem with my video card drivers. The thing is, if I either install or uninstall the AGP driver from the VIA 4in1 driver set (version doesn't seem to matter), it will boot into Windows okay but seems to act weird (if I play around with the NVIDIA settings in the display settings, it eventually gives me an error in rundll or some other file. All of windows won't crash, just can't get back into the video settings. If I then reboot again, the whole process starts over again unless I reinstall or uninstall the VIA AGP driver.

I have a P700e running at 933, but the problems are the same if I run at 700. I have a Hercules Prophet GTS 64mb video card flashed to the new bios. I have tried the hercules drivers and nvidia drivers without any difference. The video card is not sharing an IRQ with anything. The bios is set to AGP 2X, fast writes off, with AGP size at 64 and 128 (without any change).

Other details of my system are: 256 PC133 ram, Diamond MX300 sound card with latest drivers, Adaptec 3950U scsi card, NCR 810 scsi card, and a nic. Everything else works fine (network, sound, etc).

I have bios 1005 already installed.

If anyone can offer an help, I would greatly appreciate it. I can't be expected to reinstall those damn drivers every time I want to boot into windows and besides, it's not 100% stable even when I do.

Thanks.

I've read that thread, and I actually took the sound card out -- same problem still

Any other suggestions?

I too still have problems, although the soundcard being replaced still was a very good thing. I can tweak the control panel setting all I want, no prblems, but the GeForce locks up as soon as I play a 3D game. AGP 2x/4x fastwrites on/off make no difference.
When you removed the soundcard, did you unistall the drivers/contol panel application too?
And does the unistallation remove the soundcard from the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\PCI section?
and the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Serivces\Class\MultiFunction section?
Regardless, I never had that exact problem with the video settings. What driver versions did you try? Latest, or back to 5.1x?

Good luck with this, I'll be checking in hoping there's a solution too

I think that I found the problem. I was using a single stick of 256 MB PC133 RAM, and I took that out and put in 2 sticks of PC100 64 MB and presto, everything was fine! However, when I put in 2 more sticks of 64 mb (to fill all 4 slots and for a total of 256mb)I started getting the same error again. I took out one of the sticks, and everything is fine again. So I don't know if it's the fact that I had 256 MB RAM on one stick, all 4 slots filled, or just the fact of having 256 MB RAM total is the problem. I have tried the PC133 RAM at 100 MHz and still got the same problem.

So the next question is this: Does anyone have 256MB on a single stick of RAM running okay on this board? How about, has anyone filled all the memory slots with RAM and still get the system to work okay, and lastly, does anyone just have 256 MB RAM (such as 2 128 MB sticks) working okay?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I can't believe that that was the problem - I'd still like to know why it did run fine for a week or two, but today when I put in a 2nd 256Mb stick, the problem went away.I tried using 100Mhz instead of 133, i tried relaxing all of the timings, and I tried turning all the other DRAM options on/off. Nothing got rid of the problem unitl that second stick was installed.

Thnaks for pointing it out, though. First time in two weeks I've been able to use this $#&^%! GeForce

I'm using 2 128 MB PC133 sticks and it runs perfectly since I upgraded my MX300 drivers to the Aureal reference drivers.

Okay, so it looks like it's not the amount of ram that is the problem. Is anyone using a single stick of 256MB PC133 RAM okay in this board?

I'm using a 256 stick from Mushkin. I don't care what the press is on this CAS 2 stuff, it gets flakey at anything above the 133 bus. Currently I'm running my 550e at 140. Unlike yours, it boots fine but may or may not hang after being on for several hours. Bios is on auto, cpu on manual adjust. The system will not boot on the 4/3 and may or may not boot on the 1/1 setting(@140. 142 is unreachable for me. Video card is a voodoo 5500, scsi controler card, IBM 7200 drive, vortex sound card. The cooling on the cpu and motherboard is stock. No heat sink on the clock generator chip(yet) and the stock Intel fan on the CPU.
