I went over to a friend's house today to install a new retail Radeon 7000 32mb PCI video card since he has no AGP slot and wants a video upgrade. First, the drivers just wouldn't intall. It would run the installation process and once the install was done, it just froze the computer. I had to reboot and reinstall about 5 times. Finally, it worked and told me to restart the computer. After the restart, I went to change his display settings and and when I click "apply", it get Rundll32 errors followed by an immediate computer freeze. After the 3rd reboot, the computer booted up with the new display settings.
Now, the video card is finally installed and running at desired display settings, BUT everything is running extremely slow and games and applications are taking forever to load. I try running "Swat 3" and it runs just as choppy as it did with his on-board, the only difference is the graphics look better. I tried running a second game and all it did was freeze the desktop.
Another thing is I can't find an option in the BIOS to disable on-board video. Anyhow, both of us are highly disappointed and I'm stumped. The only other thing I can think of trying is to dowload updated drivers and hope that makes a difference. Here's his computer specs...

I'm not extremely computer savvy, but I've installed video cards before, but never with this much trouble. I'm going to take one more shot at fixing the problem tomorrow afternoon. If it still doesn't run as it should, I'm gonna have to take it out and enable his on-board video again. And I'll be stuck with a PCI card that I don't need.
So if anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know. Thanks in advance you all!
