Help putting together computer

So I just got my first non pre built comp and put it together and....I cant turn it on I literally have everything in everything seems connected the 24pin and the 8pin are connected to the mobo hard drive is in there cpu and fan are in there i literally cant think of anything i skipped and yet it wont turn on when i attempt to

power switch on case connected to motherboard? if it is - disconnect that and then use a screwdriver to short that connection on the motherboard together to see if it turns on.

obvious questions too - power supply switch on - if one - on and plugged into wall? does that wall outlet work?

Did you maybe have an errant "post" in the case possibly touching the mobo and shorting it?

Other than that, my initial instinct is to check the wires from the power switch on the case to the mobo like stevf suggests, I almost always have them backward on the first shot.

Don't sweat the polarity on the power or reset switches. They are momentary on, only make contact when you press the button and have no preference either way unlike the LEDs for the front panel which do have a + and - that will not light if backwards.

Do you get any kind of fan spin up or anything?

did you connect the motherboard connectors for power switch, reset, hd leds, etc to the appropriate wires inside the case that go to the front of the case? my post is to make sure you hooked those up and if you did , to manually start the motherboard. Sometimes the power switch on the case will go bad or can be bad from the start.

The rest of my reply is just general is it plugged into a good outlet as i think most people do that on occasion - forget to plug it in

Dfuze is asking you that you used the case standoff so the back of the motherboard isnt laying directly on the metal of the case
