I was thinking of trying to get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

My only 2 concerns: can it be OVed? and will it run in crossfire? Note that there are 2 slots, not one, between my usable PCIE slots, so I am worried the CFX bridge wouldn't be long enough.

Other than that, it seems to have a great cooler, and comes at a good price.

If there is a similar 7970 with OV capability at similar price, do tell

Any 7970 will run in crossfire except for Asus triple slot DCII coolers. I don't know about the crossfire bridge though, but I'd expect them to provide a bridge that fits the standard spacing between PCIe slots in current motherboards, that is, three expansion slots apart.

At current price levels, that Sapphire and HIS IceQ X2 are the only 7970's I'd consider, voltage unlocked or not. If overclocking the 7950 is a great choice too, you can often get 1100Mhz on stock volts

Best value 7950s:
Sapphire Dual-X $280 AR
Gigabyte WF3 $300
MSI Twin Frozr III $305 AR

I would trust MSI to overclock the best on average, but the other coolers are probably a bit quieter. My Sapphire 7950 dual-x (similar specs as the newegg model but different SKU) overclocked to 1100 on stock volts but it is not overvoltable with the current BIOS. Both MSI and Gigabyte should be voltage unlocked.

OP for a 2560 x 1600 monitor a single HD 7970 should do fine. with a slight overclock to 1.15 Ghz you will do even better than the HD 7970 Ghz (1.05 Ghz) in the reviews below.

http://www.techspot.com/review/603-best-graphics-cards/page3.html

also if you want to go for CF make sure you have atleast 3 slots between the two graphics card slots. the Dual x cooler takes more than 2 slots.

lastly the HD 7950 boost runs at 925 mhz boost clocks. stock voltage of 1.2 - 1.25v. easily overclocks to 1.1 - 1.15 Ghz at stock voltage. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 3 - 5% slower than HD 7970. so a HD 7950(1.1 Ghz) matches a HD 7970 Ghz. but costs just 300 bucks

For the best value its the HD 7950 boost without a doubt. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970.

Just an update, I did a google search and people say that the sapphire I linked is voltage unlocked. I will be trying to get that soon, unless a better deal comes up.
