Well, I partitioned my new WD 120GB into three sections (6.77GB, 40GB, and 65GB) using the PartitionMagic boot disks. I installed Win XP pro to the 1st partition, programs/games to the 2nd, and left the 3rd for data. I then decided that I could use an extra 5GB on the 3rd partition that wasn't being used on the 2nd.
So I booted with the PM disks, resized the 2nd partition to 5GB smaller and the 3rd one to 5GB larger. Then I told it to go ahead and make the changes. It whipped right through the first resize, but started creeping when it hit the second. After about three hours (is it supposed to take this long?...), it hit 45% complete on resizing the 3rd partition; and it's been stuck at 45% for the past 2 hours. I'm growing a little concerned and kinda wishing I hadn't convinced myself I needed that 5GB moved...
It really doesn't look like it's going anywhere, even though the hard drive LED is flickering. Should I wait it out longer? Or hit the hard reset button on my tower and hope for the best? Is it possible/probable/damn certain that I would lose data on one or both of the partitions (or *gulp* the entire drive)? Help will be appreciated.
